Looks like you have good leaf translocation already. Just help it along with a gentle flush for final ripen before chop.

I'm strictly hydro, so I can't really walk you through it the way I did it, but your bud looks fuckin' great, so it's not like you're in desperate need of any kind of help.

You only need enough room to hang your buds loosly so that they're not making severe contact. Just make sure there is air flow all around them. Keep the dry area dark. A gentle airflow (not directly on them is ideal). Let 'em dry slowly like that for about 7-9 days. After day 7, check that they feel hard and crumbly on the outside. The buds should snap easily off the main stalk by this time. Time to jar.

i use finisher by green planet. You can use it on your last watering. i use it on my last feeding and then once again b4 i chop. i dont use it on my last watering tho.
i have a buddy who swore on flushing for two weeks. But he said he used it right up to last week. He grows for triple A. He has told me alot about electrical and the new juice im using. So far everything is going very well and i think im gonna top my best quanity per 1000w and quality of all my grows.
im from b.c where it is flooded with nammer kush and lots of kush. You need to have triple A to get good prices.
How big is your A/C? You got some nice buds and strains i want to get clones of
i got some advice for drying tho. cut the plant the stalk and cut the leafs off(clip it) Hang it for three days on the stalk. I use coat hangers. Cut it off the stalk and bag it for 12hours or less. The whole point of bagging it up is to equal out the moister in the stem compared to the bud. it also makes all the weed smell the same. And dry properly. Then you put it on screens for 24 hours. You might have to bag it up again and sweat it for another 6 hours. Then dry for one more day on screens and You will have dried buds. Depends on your Rh in the room. i keep a small fan in the dry area but not directly on the plants.
That is the old way of doing things. My friend uses a trim pro. So he cuts the plant down and cuts all the nice buds off and puts them in the machine. After they are all cut he cuts the small buds and puts it all on a screen that you hang off one hook. its round and have 5 levels. i have one to. i just forgot the name of it haha.
He said it cuts the time in half. its 1100 for the trim pro. i want one soon.

That sounds tricky to do especially with a huge harvest like he's gonna have. Wouldn't sweating the buds like that in a bag before completely dry risk grassiness?

How is that tricky? thats what everyone does. You sweat the buds when they feel Dry to the touch or crispy. It evens the moister out so they can dry evenly.
How else would u do it?

thanks. no, no ac but 3 vortex 6" inlines (1 drawing from under the house...COOL air, 1 kicker b4 the air heads into my lights and one on a board on the wall exhausting outside) to keep my lights cool and u can put ur hand right on the glass after 24 hrs or continuous use. i have a heavy duty dehumidifier and a big(36") moutain air carbon filter attatched to an 8" vortex exhausting outside as well so that keeps things cool too. cooling isnt my prob though my climate is pretty cool and my grow is covered by trees so the room gets very little direct light. i have a bigger issue keeping the room warm enough in off cycles (shouldnt during the summer) im worried about winter.

Get you some green lights for warming during the winter is what I've picked up. They put off very little light, but the spectrum will not disturb your flower cycle at all. Good luck, and it looks GREAT!

Interesting choice of words there. Is that what everyone does? Or is that what you do? Because I've read that general description of bud drying many times before on the internet. But my experiences have shown me something quite different.

How is it tricky? You ever harvested a large quantity? You don't think it would be slightly a hassle to bag tons of pot, take it out, put it on screens, and bag it all up again?

From my experience, it takes a lot longer than 3 days before it's safely dry enough to sweat in an enclosure like a bag or a jar. I guess my buds are just denser and take longer to dry than yours.

Again, let me tip my hat to you for such amazing results without the years of experience. It seriously looks like you've been at this for a very long time.

I certainly hope you have at least one to two competent people to help you on harvest day. The number of big, dense colas I count in your pulled-back shots are amazing... but I wouldn't want to be the one to trim all that bud.

I see that your mature buds look pretty comparable to mine in size/density. Be very careful not to jar or bag them before they're dry enough. With buds that dense, you don't need to freak out about them drying out too much... but you do need to freak out if you sweat too early and your buds end up smelling/tasting grassy. Those things are loaded with resin...and resin hardens...doesn't dry. Give it at least a week in hang before bagging or jarring.

I say this because it's extra important to allow those last traces of chlorophyll to dry out before allowing them to sweat. Improperly harvested bud tastes and smells grassy because those last traces of chlorophyll weren't handled properly. People smell their grow under the blazing lights and just think dank, dank, dank... and are shocked and disappointed when they harvest and it turns out not smelling dank, dank, dank, but grassy, grassy, grassy.

When you shut down your grow and turn the lights out, your nose detects just how much stored chlorophyll is still in your plants... there is still quite a bit. You'll notice that during the first few days of drying, if you sniff your drying buds, they'll smell grassy. That's natural and it's because it's releasing the chlorophyll that evaporates initially. Remember, chlorophyll, the green in the plant that tastes and smells grassy dries... that's what you're really drying during dry week. The resin doesn't dry and evaporate, it solidifies and hardens. After the chlorophyll has left, the resin is all that remains...and that's what tastes and smells dank. Put them in a jar or bag before all the chlorophyll has evaporated, and guess what? that's right. Having nowhere to evaporate, the grassy chlorophyll sweats through your entire crop. You don't want that.

Edit again:

All of the above applies especially to high-wattage light growers like you (and me). You can't expect to treat your crop the same as someone growing with a smaller light source. With over 3000 watts blazing down on your plants, they have been photosynthesizing at an accelerated rate compared to a plant growing in a more conventional, less intense setup. That means you have to take special care to prevent grassiness at harvest... or you can bag them up after only three days like someone else suggested and see what happens.

Oh, and during dry week, dark, dark, darkness, and slow, slow dry with gentle, and I mean GENTLE air movement not directly on them. Once dry, they'll feel crispy on the outside and the nugs should snap easily off the stem without the use of a scissor. I've read on the internet to let it dry until your main stalks snap. This is limited instruction as that information would only apply to a real twiggy little plant. Real plants that have huge main stalks... to let those dry until they snap would take weeks and be ill-advised. Just make sure it's dry enough that the little stem connecting the buds to the main stem snap... Don't worry if some of your thicker main branches are still a little bendy (we're harvesting bud, not branches).

Then and only then will you jar them. They feel crispy and the buds snap off, but don't be fooled by that. There's still trace moisture at their core. So now that all the green chlorophyll has evaporated, you can now sweat out that tiny, tiny bit of moisture at their core slowly... This is the cure. Continue to store the jars in darkness and open them once a day for about 20 min to an hour to let them breathe.

**of course everything I've been saying applies more importantly to your premium upper nugs. The lower fluff nugs you can play around with... But don't fuck with the premium tops.

So that is my advice for drying and curing. As for the finish in terms of flush, I'll have to refer you to my colleague, dsmoke1, as I am only knowledgeable in hydro.

My two cents on flushing with soil:

If you have properly fed the medium up until this point, nothing but water is necessary. Some people use drowning methods to begin the fermentation process while the plant is finishing. Personally, feeding with straight water according to your normal schedule two to five weeks prior to harvest will give you a great fade and great yield. I say 2-5 weeks because varying genetics feed differently. Some like it hot, some like just enough. From the looks of your grow, just feed with straight water and watch that fade. Root growth has stopped at this point, so heft a pot or to before watering to gauge uptake.

On drying/curing:

The slower, the better. Drying racks/screens are the best method. You want a slightly cold, dark, slightly ventilated area with a hanging drying screen. I place my biggest buds on the top level, medium buds on the middle, and popcorn buds on the bottom. It is important to no dry too quickly. Bunch the similar sized buds close together to slow the drying process.

Here's what my popcorn bud rack looks like - Notice the tight grouping - This allows them to dry evenly and jar up at around seven days instead of three.

I always recommend to dry and cure as slowly as you can Jin already laid down the science

Slow = Better. If you have the time, exercise restraint.

Hey everyone, thank you so much for the awesome information. Seriously, there is so much misinformation floating around about this process and it means a lot have such experienced growers shelling out their wisdom. I have been reading the responses, just haven't had the time to respond in the last few days. We have taken on another project, it's a new room with a walled off 5x9 area for drying (with a chicken wire rack), and the other part of the room is the new and improved vegging area. I'll have some new pictures up once we're done, which should be tonight.

Also, can someone explain the process and the purpose of jarring. Thanks again everyone.

Here are some pictures of the newest addition to our little pseudo family. It's the dry room, and I really hope this works out well. We still need to maybe tarp the top, but we might come up with a different solution.

A much smaller charcoal filter than the one we actually use in the grow room. We're also using a different type of fan for this room. Hopefully it works out.

This a shoddily made chicken wire shelf. One of my friends made it, and the quality was much worse than I wanted. Oh well, it seems like its sturdy.

Yeah, that setup I had was the bee's knees..........lol.

8 x 1000W Hortilux HPS dual bands

4 - 4 X 8 flood tables Filled completely with rockwool slabs, then white/black poly laid over (white side up), then X's cut where plants went. This kept the light off the rockwool, and at the same time kept humidity around the roots. This allowed for longer times between feedings as it kept the roots moist.

8 - GroStar vertical reflectors (crazy wave shaped, worked deadly)

2 - 40 Gallon reservoirs

4 - water pumps.....can't remember name 2 in each res for redundancy in case one fails....each res fed two tables.

The strain was Juicy Fruit X 180 plants............45 on each table

Pulled average of +16-17 lb. every 2.5-3 months of dried, manicured premium tops.

It's like thinking of that one girlfriend from back in the day that you would love to have just one more go at......

That's so awesome. I would love to take a 3400/8000(watts)=x/16-17lb yield. That would put me somewhere in the range of 6.8 to 7.225lbs. Shit, I would be grateful for four, thrilled with five (one pound per tray), anything above that I would be dancing on air.

Flowering Day 53? (losing track)

Alright, we've had a super long past few days, but a lot has been accomplished. I feel confident now that we have a dry room built, and a new veg area (the 3x6x7 veg tent is still yet to come). After this grow is done, my roommate and I are planning a small vacation, but then it's back to growing. The plan now is to always have 15 in a veg tent, 15 in the grow, and whatever buds need drying are in the dry room. It's nice to have a four bedroom house with only two occupants.

OOOOkkkkkaaay.....here are some pictures of how the ladies are doing.

There is a 12oz Keystone Light hiding behind this Sour Diesel.

Not an impressive shot, but it's just a KL sitting atop a random part of the canopy.

We tried using Jin's cardboard method, but it failed. The picture looks like shit, but it is another overview of the room.

Wow, dude. I'm pretty blown away by your journal. Looking at your dry room construction, again, I think YOU should be the one giving advice, buddy. Everything looks clean, top-notch, and serious.

I'm not as good at wording the scientific processes as dsmoke1, but letting that last bit of moisture still lingering at the core after initial dry seep slowly through the buds while in jars will ensure that that final drying process of the buds slows down drastically. That moisture kind of hanging around in your buds (breathing air only when you burp once a day) will not only make sure the psychoactive properties develop potency as the sugars ferment, but your bud will keep for a very long time and won't dry out completely even after months. If you still have any stock left that's been curing in jars for over a month, that is your prime smoke.
