Which light should i buy for the veg stage of the plants which are being grown in grow cabinet 1ft 9 x 2ft and 3ft hieght.Looking for the cheapest option

if interested in flos just make sure they are 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower. or else you need a little money for some high outputs or something that rout.

yea i'm with you a couple cfls,& some "Y" sockets if you're strapped for cash will do the trick, but if you can afford them get the t-5s i've grown under every kind of flo and t-5s growing them way faster,and better than any other flo

I'm gonna have to agree with Dadio, T5's work wonders on clones and even veg.
CFLs are a cheap alternative. Just make sure you have enough of them if you go that route.

CFLs are great. But your 150 watts still only put out 1700-1800 lumens with less penetration and area coverage than a 150 HID. Complete 250 watt HID packages can be found for under 150 bucks. A 250 would do very nicely in you size space. And I would look into scrog with you height restraints.

a 4ft x 4 light t-5 produces 20,000 lumens @ 216 watts perfect for vegging using 6400k tubes and cost anywhere from $120 - $160.

Lumens do not add up with additional bulbs. Its still only puts out 5000 lumens, which is perfect for vegging, just covers a larger area with 5000 lumens vs a single 5000 lumen bulb.

No need to because it really does not matter what a bulbs lumen output is. plants do no see lumens, we do. Thats where bulbs are rated, by the light the human eye sees, lumens. Plants see Photosythetically Active Radiation, or PAR. Thats the rating that matters. And still lumens do not add upon each other from bulb to bulb. Thats just a Basics 101 fact.

some basics need to be disputed then because if this is true then everyone in the country is using the wrong bulbs for flowering because MHs put out more PAR than HPS,right?

Depends on which side of the spectrum the plant is looking for.Take advantage of your bulbs output, on the plants level. Our eyes read and see advertised light Lumen ratings are Bullshit.
EDIT: 400 CMH seems to be making its mark in time....

Like the folks that can keep their 1000 watters 6 inches from the canopy. And grow hard nugs top to bottom. PAR is what made those lower sites tight, its called penetration. And that same penetration that made hard nugs low was counterproductive on top when it comes to the end product...

i've known for a while about PAR for plants,lumens for humans,LOL but we can go on and on about proper lighting but results thru experimentation put to rest things we have believed for years especially when it comes to science. i've grown under every light there is incandescent,halogens,tube flos,cfls,etc. what i have observed is under the incandescent and halogen bulbs -less leaf; bs tall/thin stretchy growth; small nuggs. under the flos/cfls - more leafier and stouter; faster ripening pistils; more resin production than any form of lighting i've grown with. mh - bigger, leafier, stouter growth than cfls; tighter nodes;good resin prduction; and denser bud structure, some of my best crops were grown under these. hps - fastest growth; good resin production; bud structure is not as dense as mh. i've used uvb every other crop to see if i noticed any effects my conclusion with them is they bring out the pigments of the leaves in late flower; increased resin and faster maturation of resin glands; and the biggie(increased potency). been doing indoor since 94, got journals up the arse so i have plenty of reference material to pull out. totally knew where you were coming from with the 5k lumens but i was simply stating what was on the box hell a veg plant can grow with 1k of lumens it'll just be at a slower rate. and as far as proper spectrum all over that too, ever look at the sky in august at sunrise/set? notice the color?........not red, magenta. also,cmhs are like LEDs to me till the tech improves(and it has a little) imma stick to the tried and true.
