They all usually smell like that. Put them in the jars to cure for a couple weeks and the smell will change.

Curing will get rid of that fresh cut grass smell. BUT you said that your bud is completely dry, so at this point there is no sense in curing it. Once your bud gets too dry then your not really curing the bud, your just re hydrating it.

I have been heavily researching this as im about to harvest.
So the hay smell is left over chlorophyll, and because you trimmed when wet (which is common) the plant couldnt break that down to sugars which metabolize into smells, odors, taste and even potency. Next time cut the plant down, with out removing any leaves whatsoever hang your entire plant upside down, approx 4 days later remove the biggest fan leaves, approx 4 days after that trim all the little resin covered sugar leaves close to the buds, then hang until stems snap, then you can start removing buds from branches and jar them and burp once every 12 hours for an hour for about 1 week then go to about once every 6 hours for 30 min, Real medical grade-A shit is slow dried, and by following these steps, your plants will break down left over chlorophyll into sugars, smells, odors, sweet tastes, and even more potent buds. Drying and curing is often done hastily and ruins all your hard work, by producing it into inferior product when it could have been shit so good it reeks through gasket sealed glass jars, tisk tisk, -shrug:blsmoke:

Hes got a lot of quality info here :bigjoint:

For you since its already dry simply stick it loosely in a jar to cure making sure to open it frequently throughout the day. Within a week the smell will improve

I honestly think the smell comes about from the quality of the grow it could be possible that hanging the plant whole does increase the breakdown of sugars etc... but the increased risk of mold would cut that method right out of my equation bud that smells good is going to smell good before during and after a dry in my opinion and curing just improves the quality of the smoke

I doubt his bud is completely dry. Find a big bud and break it apart, you'll probably see it's not totally dry yet. Needs more curing time.

Man I can not stress enough to get some hygrometers. I dry for 4 days in my bud dryer (I chop and trim wet) then into jars with hygrometers. 70% and above get the paper bag treatment to sweat the inner parts dry. 65-70% burping few hours a day to drop moisture. 65-60% is almost there continue to burp in mason jars. 55-60% is cure zone, store for months and continue curing. 55% and lower is too low for curing, its as good as it will get now.

I keep mine at 55-57% on the hygrometers and they cure up perfect and smell/smoke so good. When I didn't have a hygrometer it was just a guessing game and never was sure. For $20 a meter now its simple as following directions.

YEP i use a hygrometer for my curing- have never looked back since. Curing by numbers rather than guesswork.

I find day 4 of hang dryin(buds trimed btw) I whack em in jars and it comes to about 75%, I then take buds out for a few hours and put back in so i slowly bring it down to 70%. When it hits 70% i open every two days until i get it to 65%. Then at 65% i dont touch the jars for a week. 62% every two weeks. before ya know its been 4 weeks and you got some dam nice cured smoko.
Buds need to be ripe for it to work best.
