thank you guys for the advice and help just wanted to be the sure the mix would self adjust,i believe my tap is ok so i wont ph and let the ss do its thing

thanks for the search advice,it will save time looking thru so many posts to find
the info needed

t-ray and smh thanks for the quick reply i appreciate it as am about to do the first run in ss,and will be switching to my new ro system asap

lastly with the ro sub said to add powdered cal/mag? i read somewhere we should have this covered in the soil with oyster shell and lime i believe or do we need to add this to the mix as well?

If your on the islands do not assume you have good water while visiting I learned that many things factor in when it comes to volcanic islands,
When we tested my buddies water on North shore it was 400 ppm and extremely acidic like 5 PH

I am not sure if this applies to all the islands but just be aware

Just to help everyone who can't seem to find answer's....please make sure you google search. Makes finding answers very easy. I knew I had read it somewhere, but taking the time going page after page of thread after thread to find it takes way too long. For example to find this last answer all I did was simply put in the keywords Subcool PH Water on a google search and wa-laa I found my answer.
You can also use "site:rollitup.org (what whatever site you want) Subcool PH Water"

wow so honored to hear from the sensi sub
yes the islands are unique with the volcanic water well catchment systems
i suppose it gets more filtered and also picks up more minerals than other places
i do have a 30 gal barrel with superb airflow that i run for at least 12-24 hrs to help remove contaminants, will this affect or change the ph as well?
i am also on the north shore(oahu),i wish i knew you rolled thru would have dropped some og cheesequake island style in your hands, would have been honored
is this the north shore of oahu or another island you were on? ill have to check and hope were not a ph5 and ill check ppm as well, what amount of ppm is good?

i had a ph pen for few yrs and checked daily we were at 7.0 on the average
so we ph'd down to 6.4-6.5 and seem to have good sucess, but with ss i believe all the advice was to get to netural and let it do its thing,so ill have to borrow a pen and test to be sure were still at or close to 7.0,and at least be aware so i can ask sensible questions

and i asked smh because i trust knowledge and experience rather than hearsay,i read few of his posts and liked his approach and style of communication, aloha style,so i reached out, when people learn something its nice to listen and learn from their mistakes and success.it will help my process greatly, knowledge is powerful.

amazing work sub sharing your knowledge with no monetary gain is good stuff
my father is also a teacher of a trade that is not taught in schools, and openly shares his knowledge for others to learn and flourish,so i really do appreciate the effort and awareness and hope others do as well,i need to trust journeyman like yourself and smh as my experience is only 5+ yrs so i feel im still in apprenticeship mode till i master my technique and am confident at every level of the grow,MAHALO for the quick replys

a hui ho...

Yeah Bra,
Oahu is where my brudder lived and also where we visited last year stayed at Turtle Bay rented scooters scuba dived you know the drill.
I always though that Hawaii would have the best climate to grow but I learned differently first off bad soil and bad water in many places and also bugs seen no where else on earth it seems.
Combined with the fact most hybrids will start budding from seed due to equatorial light.
I had the idea for the perfect way to grow herb there though.

Build a glass and framework building
use about 4feet with some nice artificial lighting on solar panels to have a veg area. The rest of the glass house would be your budding area complete with air conditioning and CO2 and dehumidifiers.

Use the solar panels to charge some nive high tech system that would in turn power the lights 18/6 in the veg room the when there good and big move em into the sunshine obviously some UV transition time needed maybe a shade top

Hey Subcool....did I not see in your July 4rth promo for the tude that we would get a TGA coffee cup if we asked for it? I got the little tga spliff trey and the Chernoble and Dairyqueen seeds. I also ordered Vortex to try as well as Chocolope, Kandy Kush, Sensistar and a few others....but they sent no coffee cup. No biggie but was I wrong that I had saw it offered in your vid?

Man...I cant thank ya again for the knowledge you have sharred. Well respected everywhere it seems in the internet forums. I have tweeked the soil just slightly for less nitrogen because I veg under t5 right now....but I bought a cooltube and 400 watt ballast.....just have to plumb that sucker in....

Grasshopper you could of got the TGA cup, but only if you chose it as a stealth delivery option. It was like $1 or $2 more than the T-shirt option. It wasn't a freebie.

Has anybody ever tried using Humboldt Honey ES with there super soil? its completely organic. ingredients are derived from: Pure cane molasses, volcanic ash, yucca extract, seaplant extract, Quillaja saponaria, and Montmotillonite. Total N. 0.45 Total P. 0.25 Total K. 1.80%. I thought this would be almost good to add throughout the whole flowering phase every other watering..
Has anybody else every used something similar? this stuff smells like an even stronger blackstrapp molasses almost!!!

Hotsauce, the nugs don't look too bad, always wanted to try sour cream. But, i would pull all those dead leaves that are crisp and hanging, less wasted plant energy. Also, dont really want them to fall into soil or below your plants and rot. good luck.

Yea i pick off leaves about every 3-4 days alot of leaves seem like they dont want to let go so i leave them on. If it wouldnt fall of in nature why force it to. I cut a sample of the SC and it has a strong diesel smell mixed with a Gym sock smell.

These pictures are from day 36. with 4 weeks veg. All 3 sit under 2, 600 watts. The NYCD has its own 600 watts pretty much and the other 2 get the rest. The other 2 are Purple Hindu kush and G13 haze. the sour D is in a 15 gal and the rest are in 10gal. I was concerned I used too much SS, 50% to be exact, in these girls, due to budget and not having the money for some fresh roots soil, but they seem to be doing well. The Hindu seems to have a lot of nitrogen still in this period, but still is doing really nice :smile:SD closeup.JPGSD 6.jpgSD 3.jpgSD 4.jpgSD 2.jpgSD 1.jpgSD 5.JPGG13 2.jpgG13 close up.JPGPH 1.jpgPH 2.jpgPH 3.jpgPH 4.jpgPH closeup.JPGG13 1.jpg

The long awaited first photo session with my new camera. I am not a photo expert, but i feel they came out pretty well. This is a local Urp strain that I was lucky enough to be gifted. Let me know what you think of my ladies.

Subcool I personally want to thank you b/c your SS is the reason my shit looks oh so tasty. Bottle nutes IME could not get me these type results. Just good old water and some sugars at the end. These babys are at day 45.

Mister subcool or anyone with knowledge in the following areas; please lend a hand!
In 5-7 months I'll be heading to a very remote mountainous place and the closest I'll be to any kind of store will be 3 hours away at least.
I'd like to gain as much knowledge about growing before I go because I probably won't have internet. I figured it was about time to try and ask because reading on these forums and searching on Google doesn't always take me where I want to go.

First of all, I've read about PPM and my understanding is that to high of a PPM in fertilizer/waterings will result in nutrient burn/acid/basic. I know PPM is parts per million (dissolved parts in a liquid) and I know how to calculate PPM of water that I've added fertilizer to. For example, in someones comment above they mentioned the water had a PPM of 400+ and as a result the soil was very acidic (or basic, I forgot). If the tap water or river water that I'm using to water my plants has a PPM of X, why should this be of concern to me?

The second, but definitely my most pressing question is how the hell do I add fertilizers... I'm not talking about dumping a bunch of things in a bag and mixing it, I'm talking about knowing the exact content of a homemade fertilizer after I've mixed a specific weight of know fertilizers (NPK known). For example, if I mix 13g of 0-27-0 bat guano with 5g of 3-3-2, what is the result and how do I obtain that result?

On a side note (but of equal importance) should I be aiming for a total PPM of all dissolved fertilizers' NPK (700-800PPM/watering for example)? Also, my fertilizer mixture should be combined to form a desirable ratio BEFORE dissolving in the water, correct?

I gotta admit, the answers to these questions hold a lot of value to me, and I'm very keen to learn what's going on! I've read all 47 pages of Ohsogreen's "Making tea is EZ and CHEAP," scoured the internet for the answers to these questions, and I figured it was time to ask for a hand.
Peace and thanks ya'll.
