Lumatek or Quantum ( to power 1000w bulbs)

If you are running a few light the quantums are nice. I have had some problems with my electrical spikes blowing a lot of them out. I don't know if it was a bad batch and I'm running my amps at pretty much full capacity so... The spikes can be bad for them. I've also had problems with some lumeteks in the past as well. The quantums are nice because they are light weight, pretty quiet, low heat and you can turn them to 75% and 50% output if your room heats up bad during hot ass days if your room is overheating.

apparently the lumateks have that too now.
Well im going to pretty much have a big ass setup like about 6-10 1000w in a room. Soooooo NE GOOD RECOMMENDATIONS?

No need to spend that much cash on such a simply built peice of equipment.
Go to High Tech Garden supply aka HTG & get a ballast from them,they have great build quality,they are UL rated & long lasting,they also have a 5 year gaurantee.
Ive got both magnetic & digi ballasts from them,i run 8 of their 600 watt swithable/dimable digital ballasts & 2 of their 400 watt switch & dimable digi ballasts,these units have operated non stop for the last 2 years without so much as a bad cord,its been problem free.
I also have 4 of their 1,000 watt magnetics that ran non stop for 3 years i no longer use,i never had a problem with those ballasts either,their still working if i plugged em in.
HTG.COM is the ticket & their ballasts are every bit as good build quality as lumatex ,at 30% less cash.

I've never seen a return on a quantum t5 or ballast.
They run super cool and you can dim them 50%/75%/100%.
Lumateks get returned.
Lumateks have the "superlumens" mode that will fuck up your bulbs.
Get the quantum hands down.

Um, I returned 8 quantums last month! In fact I thought it was just a bad batch but had another one go down 2 nights ago after running it for 2 weeks. So i'm not too happy with them right now.

are you maxing out your amperage or something?
We've got 4 600s running on 240v in a warehouse with no problems. They run really cool and quiet.

yeah, Im pretty much maxing out my Amps, but my other ballasts i've had since 2000 that are on the opposite cycle don't blow out.

i've seen 7 quantums get sent to RMA in one month! i have seen a quantum blow out 3 bulbs then the ballast went, replaced with new ballast and burned out again within a month. no experience with lumatek but that is what i have personally seen at my friends grow, and what i've seen at my friends hydro shop.

i dont understand why everyone wants to use digitals. what is the advantage? for the price of a single digi 1000w ballast you can get almost 3 magnetics. so you can dim the lights, i never understood that if you bought a 1000w dont you want to use all 1000w of the watts you paid for ?!?!?! the power consumption is negligible a valueline 1000w magnetic ballast pulls 5 amps at 240v and a quantum 1000w pulls 4.4-4.5 amps at 240v. you pay 3 times the price for a half amp in power savings?! they also have shorter warranties than magnetic, and heat output difference i have never noticed. you should just get a magnetic and save money. magnetics are also simple to rebuild only 3 main parts, magnet, coil/windings, ignitor. anyway thats my rant lol
