Will using an inline fan work efficiently as an exhaust fan

My original plan was get one inline fan as the intake fan ($45) and use one 6'' vortex fan(215$) for exhaust. My question is why not just two inline fans, is it really necessary to use a vortex fan for exhausting air? would be be that big of a deal to just use an inline fan which is much cheaper.

i always thought vortexs are inline fans but without more info it is hard to tell what cfm you need i do 150 cfm per 1000 watts thru hoods and 2 6 inche intakes with vortex fans on them when my co2 is off..

I assume for 45 bucks you're talking about inline duct fans. They are ok for passive intake I suppose but I wouldn't dare use it for exhaust alone.

Ya i think its the inline duct fan, its about 150ish cfm if i remeber correct, and the vortex is like 260cfm. I am setting up in a 6x6 bathroom in my trailer with only a 400hps and a 4bulb t5.

i have a 400w HPS along with about 200w of cfl...i use a 115 cfm computer fan as an exhaust with passive intake..and a single 4 inch fan inside the box.my temps stay around 78f with it almost 100f outside....why wont a inline duct fan work for him?

It's all about power. If the inline fan is powerful enough, then there's no reason why you can't just use that.

but power is useless if your grow environment isnt setup properly...placement of lights and exhaust/intake...sealing the room (if you choose to seal your room..i dont). can have the most powerful fan they make and if it cant move the air the way it needs to...the fan isnt going to help

You don't need an intake fan just an exhaust fan. I have a few valueline fan's a 4" http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/valueline-inch-171-cfm-centrifugal-inline-fan-p-2259.html and a few 6". For $10 more I'd go with a 6". Either way you'll have enough power for venting and a carbon filter. You won't be able to do that with a cheap duct booster fan.

May help for temps, throw a carbon filter on it and those cfm are reduced to almost nothing then you have to deal with smell. If your room is properly sealed you don't need an intake fan. You will have enough negative pressure to when the door shuts air is being sucked in like a vacuum.
