So, every one of these are BLUE states. I know some will call WV a red state because of the last couple of Presidential elections, but they have 2-1 Democrat/Republican registered voters and until 2000, they voted for Dems. So basically, the top 10 states no one in their right mind wants to live in are little pockets of Progressive Utopia.

And all these Dems are flooding into Red states to escape the outcome of their own ridiculous voting habits. Liberals are like locust and cancer, consume and move on. It's a pity they don't actually learn from their mistakes. Coming soon to a city near you.

i live in one of those states....you aint gotta tell me nothing. its like a ghost town for home builders. necessary repairs is the only game in town. if it aint on fire, or shooting sparks out the side, people arent getting things done. although it has improved slightly from 6 months ago.

oh, and green jobs. tax breaks and energy cost driven.

Someone didn't read the article, at all. If you had read the article, instead of just spewing your typical liberal talking points, you would have seen it was based on BUILDING PERMITS. The entire point is that they AREN'T building/financing new homes. Here I'll give you a few snippets since it was too tough to actually read.

Most data the public sees is based on home prices, number of homes sold or foreclosures. Housing permits are a way to look ahead at what is likely to happen in the markets in the next year.

Im pretty sure redivider was saying that the saturated market is probably the reason no homes are being built, cos theres already too many on the market. They'll be giving houses away with boxes of breakfast cereal soon, why would any sensible person want to build more worthless boxes?

You could make that case if he had said "too many were built/financed" but he said "there's too many new houses being financed/built by overzealous developers and banks". He's definitely talking present tense not past tense.

I'm not nitpicking here either, the article goes into specific detail about permits being seperate from existing homes, foreclosures and such. It is a forecast of FUTURE DEMAND and concludes no one wants to move there. Not to mention it's on Yahoo news, which has such a liberal slant, it makes the NY Times look like the Washington Times.

The housing market is down, its a recession a lot of people are out of work. A lot of houses on the market or have been foreclosed on.



Why would there be a market for new houses when.
- no one has money
- lots of good deals

Again, read the article. It SPECIFICALLY debunks the dead horse you keep trying to beat.

Not to mention, your argument is laughable on it's face. Your argument could be applied to almost every market in the US. These states are in the worst shape, not because the builders went SUPER crazy in Maine, Pennsylvania etc, etc, building more unneeded homes than in other states, but because NO ONE WANTS TO LIVE THERE.

I live in Maine, and to be honest it is a VERY poor indicator for anything financial or educational.

Maine is pretty much 2 states, the southern part of the state is more educated, has a much higher income and almost always votes Democratic.
The northern part of the state is VERY rural, very under educated, poor and voted in a Republican governor last election.......He got smoked in the southern part of the state and carried the northern section big time.


Funny part is, all the ignorant unemployed and uneducated rednecks that voted that clown in are now the ones having all their Government programs stripped by the bozo they elected into office.....

That's exactly what I'm doing. People are running like hell from those states, obviously not everyone, but enough that it's noticeable and explainable. Of course the free market forces are at work, but the people who comprise that free market are voting with their feet.

It's not like I'm reading the article incorrectly, they give away their conclusion twice, in the Title and then with this line

Notice they didn't use "Top Ten States with Saturated Real Estate Markets"

You can disagree with their assessment, but to say I'm drawing the wrong conclusion from the article is incorrect.

If your conclusion is "the progressive agenda did it" I think you're reaching. It's an obviously extremely partisan position too, you are just interpretating the article that way through your own biased lens; And we all do it to an extent, but it doesn't really help the discussion so why not try to limit it? You know, lead by example? This can be a good politics section or it can be your standard trollfest.

The problem is that you aren't even basing your argument on evidence, you're simply pointing out that several of those states are blue; Correlation, but where is the causation? Where in the article does it say, "Progressive policies" are what caused the trend? Is there any hard evidence to suggest that progressive policies are what is causing this trend? Facts. Evidence. Try it.

The part thats Portland and south, I don't venture north of Portland at all.....northern Maine where the men are men and the farm animals are very afraid. Couldnt pay me to go to Lewiston, Auburn, Agusta or anything north of Portland....too many trees and too many ignorant rednecks for my tastes.
