600w hps autoflower-soil grow

Ok ..... so this is my first grow journal.

It will take me a short while to get going, but i intend to learn as much as i can in meantime.
i think i have most of the stuff i need apart from a few essential items:

1.) clip on fans (2 No.)
2.) pots (2 gallon 6 No.)
3.) soil
4.) nutes

The next list is the items i have:

1x 4ftx4ft x 7ft (Secret Jardin™) grow tent
1x 600w HPS lamp with reflector
1x 600w Sunmaster™ hps bulb
1x 600w digital ballast
1x 5" carbon filter
1x 5" RUK fan
15ft of 5" ducting
1x fan speed smart controller
1x 4" bathroom type fan (for intake)
1x digital hygrow meter
1x 22A timer/contactor.
1x pair of ratchet hangers..... might get more so i can lower exhast closer to the lights :-?

thats not all of it... im sure.... but it gives you a reasonable idea of what i'm using.

right once i'm setup i intend to run light and fans for as long as it takes to tune my temps... that will be 19 on/5off

i dont know if i will need a cooltube... its my only worry, i will setup and see i guess. But if it turns out i need one i will not hessitate in buying one.

(should i put pots of watered soil in my tent to get a closer picture of humiditty?)

i know from reading other peoples build and grow journals that i will need to do a lot of altering of equipment.... and what i beleive in theory to be best practice may not be quite as affective when i get going... i am a total newb! ... i don't know from experience.... i've just read your stuff and tryed to make choices that suit my budget, and knowledge which is very limited....

what i would like is create a simple setup that produces results.... i am scared off by the whole soilless setups purely because i dont understand what i need and how to use it... but from what i have seen it looks very easy to make mistakes... so i will use soil and mostly bloom enhancers (as i'm using auto's)

I welcome any comments and suggestions from you guys!!

Sounding good. Nice strain choices. Why the auto flowers tho? Not super familiar with them and thought they were more for outside?

You will be dealing with some humidity. No biggy during veg but bloom your gonna want to get it down , or at least have the ability to.

Can't wait to watch them grow!

Thanks Bleedmaize ...... went for auto's purly because i wanted simple for my first grow, and was only going to be one grow then use propper seeds there after and take cuttings and have a seperate veg area by then too... i'm gonna use a dual spectrum Hps bulb from start to finish..... was just going to be northern lights only, bought them ... then heard that northern lights (nirvana) were crap... not auto blah blah blah... so i got the pine apple express .. to replace them ... then i got the bug and bought the blue mystic and green o'matic....and after all that i'm being told my northern lights will be fine... problems were just with a couple of batches from a year or more ago... so mine should be fine...

so now i have loads of Auto seeds... but its just to help me get my skills... then i will find what works for me ... i dont have to worry about light cycles ..... just sow and grow i guess... i will be trying "LST" on them ... which should be fucking amusing take my word for it lol

Ahh I see. I feel ya on the easy growin. So when is their germination date?

Lst and topping is awsome. Check my sig to see some girls i topped. They are 3ft tall atm not including the pot. They ea have about 8-9 main top colas now...lst is just as awsome if not better.

You def have the right idea man.

hoping to have everything tested and ready for mid october....... but it could be a week either way to be honest.... i have to move house first, and we all know how much hard work that is.... then i gotta site and build the thing, and run it to make sure it works right..... so fingers crossed moving happens real soon!..... would love to germ first week of october!... but i have to give myself a weeks faffing time

Hey bro i did the same thing, but my autos where freebies from the TUDE when i ordered my reg seeds...Being my first time i started with the free autos and did 18/6 lighting scheduale..Had all my seeds cracked and never lost 1 to anything had 6 auto haze by dinafem and got 240g with my 600w quatum dimmeable ballast and cooltube in a closet and the only vent was having the door cracked while light was on and a tower fan blowing the hot air out...I ran my ballast at 300w for the first mth then 450w for the rest of the grow and used floranova bllom and grow and hygrozyme thats it in HEMPY BUCKETS(easiest form of hydro out there)IMO...Where grown in 3 gallon mop buckets from dollar store..lol..How many seeds u gonna plant at once??

well that makes me feel alot better about my vent issues... but i guess i won't know what i face until its up and running (i just hate not knowing lol) :-)
i was going to do 6 at a time ... 2 x pineapple express 2 x green O'matic as they stay quite short.... and 1x Northern lights and 1 x blue mystic (as they will probs be larger) for my first grow.... i want to try it all thats my trouble!

just a little update.... went to local (bloody miles away) hydro shop...... got my pots! 6x 11 ltr, so thats one less thing i need, also got prices on soil and the dreaded air cooled hood. not to bad and its the box type not tube.. i much prefer them :-) ..... also took advise on dutch pro (bloom stimulator)... anyone use it?

ok so went to h/shop and got an aircooled hood... might as well!...and bio-bizz grow and bloom :-)

nearly have everything now.... just clip on fans and soil ....and a few fittings left to get

and here it is .... the only one instock ....(i know its budget but a little tape should cure those leaks) .... i'm well happy now...... in order to use this and the fan speed smart controller i will need to get another 5" fan :-( .... i will run one at 80% constantly for the hood...and use the other in the tent with a carbon filter wired to the smart controller for better controll of my enviroment, and this should allow me to drop my light right down to the plants :-)

right ... update (little one)

purchased a few items today....

1x clip on fan
1x 30x loupe
and a 5 pack fem skunk #1 (for after my auto blitz) ... can't hurt to up the bean count ...lol

so my required kit list is now tiny!....
1x clip on fan still required...and soil mix

no news on the house move yet! GRRRRRRR
