Bachmann: Why is there a Department of Education?

(CNN) - Painting herself as a "constitutional conservative" Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann told Sen. Jim DeMint's forum Monday that if elected president she would look to get rid of the Department of Education, among other things.

"Because the Constitution does not specifically enumerate nor does it give to the federal government the role and duty to superintend over education that historically has been held by the parents and by local communities and by state governments," she said, responding to a question by DeMint, a popular figure among the tea party movement.

Isn't it interesting how all these imbeciles are taking talking points right out of Ron Paul's "playbook" from years ago. Ron Paul was decrying the Dept. of Education in the last general election and everyone laughed at him...Now his ideas are on the agenda, in one form or another, on all the candidates running.

Bachmann however is a fucking fool. Plain and simple a MOTHERFUCKING RETARD!

And here's the rub...I don't need any fucking OpEd moron to tell me so...I saw it first hand in the last debate.

First question went to her. The preface was "No rhetoric, no pointless talking points"....Those were the rules. Question to Bachmann..."How will you turn the economy around?"

Her answer? "I'll turn this fucker around in the first 90 days! WOOT!"

And then proceeded with "Obama is BAD! Vote for me 'cuz I'll fix everything that Obama has fucked up! Don't I make you guys feel good 'cuz I'm really not saying much of anything other than trust me and shitcan Obama 'cuz I'm better!"

In one word....FAIL

For the record, I am totally OK with getting rid of the Dept. of Ed (thank you Carter circa 1976)....Bachmann is still a retard and is stealing from Ron Paul's playbook to score points....nothing more.

How long to you reckon it'll take the "media" to report on the fact that they are spouting off Ron Paul's talking points? Given his new and increasing support base I doubt it won't take long once things heat up.

Not gonna happen Ron Paul will not get "The GOP Nod". The media and "TPTB" are complicit. They will promote a candidate who is part of the game. They will promote somebody who is very good at duping the brainless peasantry into believing in them. Just look around here....Look at this thread! It's happening already!

Ron Paul means what he says. As a result, he will be disparaged, marginalized wherever possible. You see that here as well. In spite of the fact that we have a Dem who is following Bush' policies over the edge into oblivion, there are people here who will support that destruction no matter what....cuz they've been told to do so because anyone other than "The Messiah" is bad.

Pretty fucking sad. I'm now off grid for power and water and close to self sufficient food wise. When it all comes down....down come knocking at my door for help....you guys did it to yourselves.

Quite frankly, I think Perry is going to get the nod because Republicans like a candidate who likes to show the world that he can swagger and shake his dick around.

Funny how he was once a Dem and supported Al Gore, eh? That stuff will conveniently get swept under the rug or sugar coated though.

First off she is trying to bite off Ron Paul's policies. I absolutely despise Michelle Bachmann. I would never support her.

Ron Paul is the one who said we need to get rid of the department of education, and he is 100% right.
I did a documentary and I talked to my old high school teachers and principal and we discussed this very issue.
I have a few friends who are teachers and we have also discussed this. I got the same thing from both my past teachers, and friends who are teachers.
(under the status quo) Teachers have to teach things a certain way in order to receive money from the federal government because of the way it has been structured for them to be dependent on it. kids don't learn nearly as much, instead the federal governments aims in on test scores. Along with textbooks now talking about the new world order, it is completely ridiculous.
The education system has deteriorated over the last 30 years, and will continue to if it is controlled by the federal government.

I agree with you. The Feds need to be taken out of the education business. The Teacher's union has corrupted education in this country and dumbed it down, the dropout rate is rising, and the young people are dumber than a goose. America is falling behind because of corruption in every facet of our govt.

I don't understand how the teachers union can have any blame in our education system. Teachers are mistreated and under paid all across America.

I do, however, agree about government being the reason for failure in the education system. Regulations have stifled teacher creativity which is absolutely essential when it comes to teaching.

Well put, my education was tarnished by Federal Government involvement, I have not met a single teacher who had anything good to say about having to push test material down kids throats.

In fact my best teachers were those who neglected the "standardized" guidelines, taught me and my class at their pace and I learned and retained more that way than any other, we just skipped the chapters government wanted us to cover and used loopholes. It was good to get some real classes.

Anyone here who isn't under 30 has no idea what the education system is like now and should have NO say over those who went through it, I graduated 2010 and I've expanded and learned more since then than I did while in school.

I love how you pose no real argument, just provocative statements that I can't even bother responding to for fear of lowering myself to such levels tonight.
