Aerogarden Germination SetUp

HI guys.

I got the aerogarden delux. It came with 6 small sponge's. Here is some question's.
My strain is called Auto Fast Bud2 from sweet seed company.

1. No lights till the seeds sprout ?

2. After they sprout out, should i go with 20/4 for entire grow?

3. Would AG light bulb cause any fire work? ( I placed in my closet but not compelety closed. After 3 hour, open it my closet, I was be able to felt the heat from light bulb)

4. I am going to use the nutes that comes with AG, specking of which, NO nutes for the first 2 week right?

Also, I am going to buy some extra CFL's. Trying to aim 150 Watt. 1 Small Fan. My PH down kit nd meter is on the way.

Can anyone please answer my question's step by step ?!

I just turn my light off. like i said closet door is not compeletly closed. SHould i open the door till it sprout?. Should i poke dowe the sponge so seed can get more water wet?

Here's a few ideas: I'm against running the light on for 24 hours a day. Everybody and everything needs a little rest.

I start the seeds by turning on the lights after 24 hours of total darkness. Just unplug the lamp cord and the pump will irrigate your seeds for the first dark 24 hours. If you have good seeds don't be surprised if they sprout that day.

The tomato setting should be 18/6 and it's good for vegging. the newer super-dooper models even have the 12/12 schedule setting you'll need for flowering later.

I like to veg them out for about a month but hopefully you have a 'short' strain. You have a growing height limitation of 23 inches; 24" minus 1" of clearance for the lamps.

One plant is good in an A/G, two is doable but three is usually too much. You have a very small reservoir; 112 ounces, (less than a 128 oz. gallon), and there isn't that much room. You can take out the spars and it will be easier to disassemble for cleaning. ("They were only there for manufacturing and shipping," A/G customer service.)

I'd find a better line of nutes if I were you. A/G's nutes are designed to feed seven miniature culinary herbs, not what we're growing. There's too much guessing with their nutes and you;ll see a lot of guys pissing and moaning on these forums about nute burn or deficiency with their nutes. There are a lot of good nutes brands on the market. I've used Technaflora's "Recipe for Success," for about three years with my A/G's and their $30 introductory sample kit will last you a long time in an A/G.

Be sure to check you pH daily, correct it back to 5.8 and toss them weekly. Give the reservoir a good scrubbing and rinse too.

While you're at it, wrap your pump in a short woman's nylon sock, like they wear with flat shoes, and that will help keep the roots out of your pump. You can probably steal one from your wife or girl friend or you can by a pair for about a buck at Wal-Mart. With out a sock when the roots get in there, and they will, you'll fry a ten dollar pump that should last you about a year.

Do your homework before you start growing because things are going to happen fast. Read everything you can from A/G, talk to their customer service people as some of them are very knowledgeable. If you haven't read Cervantes's book on growing medical marijuana that would be a good place to start. Good luck. HSA
