Growing on the sly

DAY 11

I have two healthy looking plants approximately 4" tall. I have a total of 92 W cfl 2-3" away from the plants. I prefer cfl to HID for now because of confined space/heat concerns. When I build a box for flowering I will upgrade the lighting. Unfortunately, the initial growth was a little stretched out. I made the mistake of sprouting too many seeds for my purposes. Out of a total of 28 sprouts (same strain, unknown {low-mid dank seeds}), only two are in my grow box. The rest are sitting on my balcony mingled with sunflowers. At this early stage, I am hoping to string them along as backups in case something happens to my babies. At some point, though, there will be a lot of wasted plants. Oh well, you live and you learn. My grow box consists of a 2'x4'x1' white storage bin with the doors left open in my closet. Lighting is the aforementioned cfls. A homemade CO2 dispenser sits inside with tubing suspended to deliver CO2 directly on top of each plant. The whole thing so far has cost under $100 to make. Nutrients include Foxfarm Big Grow 6-4-4, Big Bloom 0.01-0.3-0.7, and Tiger Bloom 2-8-4. Soil is a mixture of forest compost, sphagnum peat moss, perlite, and a wetting agent (plus 0.21-0.07-0.14).
I have been watering about a quart a day of tap water per plant, and the first nute dose was yesterday, Big Grow at 1/2 strength, a quart each. Any input on anything would be awesome, especially at this time for water/nutrient addition periods. At any rate, I am excited about this grow:hump: .

Here are a couple more pics of the box and my 'backup grow' (Nothing more than direct sunlight and selfwatering, but a little TLC might encourage them)

Man, this shit grows fast. Here are some pics from last night. Quite a difference. Exciting. I am lighting them on a 24/7 basis for vegging. If anyone knows of positive/negative consequences of this, please post some info. I have not heard of anything wrong with it, only the natural light cycle argument, which I dont really buy as of right now. But I am open to suggestions. I also added a single 15 W fl I had lying around. That's 107 Watts total. Is that enough? There is 2 sq ft area being lit.

Plant use the night cycle to complete photosynthesis. Anything over 18 hours is basically wasted electricity and stresses the clones but will not kill them.

Add some CO2 and then you will see eye popping results.

Read some of Ed Rosenthal's material. This guy is the true"Pot Doc." He quotes several studies suggesting that 24hr constant light through the veg. cycle will increase growth, but only in minimal amounts. Kinda makes ya wonder if its worth the extra $ to justify small amounts of extra growth.

Go with your gut bro, one of the neatest things about growing is that
its ALL UP TO YOU! Now you get to be mother nature!:hump:
Use common sense, have fun and enjoy your 1st harvest.:blsmoke:
