Thursday Night Chop Down!

Those little ceramics are pretty good, they do pull some current too as stated but all heating appliances will. Resistance = heat!
They do love heat, more so that they get credit for. You could probably raise the ambient outside your tent with one of those to a less crisp level too with less risk to the contents! There are also night cycles, works against the low extreme of the night temps. Ah the joys :D

another option is a PC fan controller, if you use PC fans or are willing to switch. here is a link for one at Tiger Direct just for reference. you just get a fan with the temperature wire. they can go by temp set point or individually control the fans. they turn the power down if it is not too hot and thus make it quieter if needed too. They have multiple model types with different features if your interested.

oh, you can control more than 1 fan with these controllers, this one controls 5 fans

man forget heaters unless if its a huge space.. i use those blacked out reptail heating lamps! put off good heat and low watts. 150w per bulb and no light at all.

their are different ones but this is the base idea
great idea irish!! i remember you telling me about those before. when i looked them up, i must have looked at the wrong thing. i like the fact that there are no moving parts!!! Thanks!!

Yeah myself as well if it were me soaking up the rays lol but mj likes hot. I used to keep my ambient temps in the mid 70s but they seem to flurish more in the low to mid 80s
you are absolutely right!! i really struggle in February because it is to cold. but when it is the hottest in July i only worry, but never have problems. it makes it all sound silly to worry about the heat now.... i guess i won't anymore!

are you suggesting to put the heat source outside the cabinet near the intakes, rather than inside? I'm intrigued by this.... sounds like more even temps, and no loss of space.

Definitely gonna have to look into that fan controller you posted at Gumball.....I'm not using PC fans, but I'm sure they have something just like this out there.

FYI in-line fans are not designed to regulated or speed controlled. That being said I have 2 router speed controls that I bought years ago for that purpose. Anyone want to buy them hehe? jk ; !)

I actually made a vaporizor using a ceramic bulb like that. Hooked it up to a rheostat. Hit pretty good, i still got it around here somewhere.

Colocowboy, I'm a sheetmetal worker now...although not really on the HVAC side, we have done it. We do more of industrial fabrication. We build tanks, handrail, guards, platforms, ladders etc. I actually went to an Apprenticeship National competition in Las Vegas a year ago. Out of the 80 boys that whipped ass back home, I placed 4th. It was a 3 day competition...Won a welder, a weeks stay in Vegas (Ceasars palace- me and ol lady), 800 dollars. Hell of a time!

There is something kinda beautiful about the glow of the led lights!
in the past i would take the plants out for the pics, but after a bunch of people said how much they liked the purple and green contrast I started leaving them under the lights to take the pics. I still leave the flash on and the camera is only a foot or so from the plants and it still looks that purple. these lights are bright!!! some of the pics that i deleted wouldn't even let the auto flash come on, because it was so bright in there.
