I trim before drying, why waste time drying leaves your not gonna smoke. Plus its easier to trim When fresh. Speeds up the hang dry part of the process.

I trim before drying as well.

Harvest --> Trim --> Dry --> Cure.

However I do know some people who swear to trimming after drying, they say it increases the taste and smell of the weed.
I haven't seen any proof yet but I am going to try it with a few stems next harvest to see if there is a difference.

Leaves will prevent buds from drying too fast
harvest, dry, trim, cure
No, controlling; humidity, temperature and ventilation prevent buds from drying too fast (or too slow).
You should not stop trimming because your bud is drying too fast, if your bud is drying too fast then you have an issue with your drying space.

Doing what you're proposing based on your info is like saying "add more water when you boil water because it evaporates".
Instead of just putting a lid on the damn pot and removing the "problem" in the first place.
I really wish people would stop posting information gotten off yahoo answers.

Hopefully he just doesn't understand the RIU concept and won't be a troll. The idea here is USEFUL, HELPFUL information backed up with growing expertise and documented fact, not internet dribble and misinformation.

trim all fan leaves then second trim leaves and hang it with the little leaves closests to the bud still on.
once dried you can remove as much or as little of remaining leaves as u want just depends if u want more wieght or better quality bud after canning.

I dont think he was being a troll at all. All the info he gave was correct and useful as well. People have been drying and curing weed the same way for decades and all he was saying is if you have to find other ways to make your product turn out to be high quality because the tried and true method isnt working for you then something is wrong. He is absolutely correct.

I just harvested my first plant, and I trimmed the big fan leaves off, and then tipped the sugar leaves. I figured the crystals were so dense it was a shame to cut them early. I let them hang for 2 days, then went back and tipped them again into my shake/trim container.

I'm running only on what I think would work best. I can't back it up with fact, evidence, or anything like that.

But as long as the bud comes out smokeable, and pleasant, what damage could be done, right?

I live in CA, and it's pretty much summer now. Temps in the 80s to high 90s, and they are curing in my shed. No humidity. Shouldn't be a mold problem.

To each his own!

ya and the quicker drying process...makes the herb harsher and smell less

Seems kinda counter productive to spend 3-4 months taking care of a plant.... then after all that time .. not to spend the time to dry it properly...for the best taste and smell....potency is up to the genetics of the plant

hey guys, not off topic to much but how long does it take to dry to the point i can put it all in a jar? and btw do you keep the buds hanging and in the dark for how long?

I stop watering the plant and let it dry out in the pot and then trim the leaves after I cut it down. It may take a bit more drying till it goes in the jars for the cure.
