When a Geek goes hydro . . .

I just installed a Sony IP camera in my grow room. I can access the audio/video feed via my local wifi on my laptop, iPad or iPhone. When I'm away I can also access it over the Internet via my router from my iPad/iPhone.

The Sony has pan, tilt & zoom as well as audio. I can see my resevoir temp, room temp, humidity and also hear my pumps, fans and the sound of running water.

I replaced some cameras for a customers upgrade and she was nice enough to give me one of the cameras I had just replaced. They were used in a medical setting so it should still have a lot of life left. NOTHING LIKE A FREEBIE !!!

How convenient is this going to be for me to stay on top of my ladies? I work just a few minutes down the road and can come home when needed.

What are your thoughts? I'm on my ipad so I can't post pics. Maybe later!!!

Im gunna sneak in there and stand in front of the camera and show it my ass until you loook :D

haha but thats awesome! i want one.

I have a camera as well, but I put it outside the door. Maybe I overlooked you being in a grow state or something, but personally, I would never stream video/pictures of anything like that over a wireless network. Especially making it reachable from the internet.

Geeking out with stuff like this is amazing fun. You might look into a piece of equipment like an arduino controller with an ethernet adapter, you could actually program it to control/monitor your hardware with real time data as opposed to looking at it through a webcam. Set up an SSL tunnel to directly access it securely (I'm not positive on this) and you should be able to monitor and control your entire system from anywhere in the world. Arduino's are powerful little things!
