Fooding once a week is usually what it works out to if I.... food, water , water, food.
I'm at week 5 and some fan leaves are turning yellow.

The watering and food schedule would be completely different in say Miracle Grow soil than say coco coir as MG already has nutes and coco coir does not. so if you leave out that info then you have asked a question that cannot be answered intelligently. If you want intelligent answers to questions then you must include information to base an answer on. OK?

It sounds like you are growing in soil (Otherwise you would know the term 'medium' :) )

Potting soils come with differing levels of nutrients already packaged. Some like Fox Farm Ocean Forest & Miracle grow are loaded with nutrients. Others like Black Gold have very little extra apart from the soil.

So as doser said, we cant really talk about nutes without knowing something about the soil.

However, with soil grows it usually goes something like this:

Little or no nutes for the first couple of weeks then add nutes every other feeding. Start with a very low concentration and build up to the recommended strength for young plants.

The recommended concentration for young plants is usually 1/4 of the dosage for a mature plant.

I use supernatural nutrients in my DWC. I highly suggest you start out at 1/3 of the recommended dosage. Like other nutrients, Supernatural can burn your plants. I also recommend feeding every other watering. this is if your in soil

I use Pro-Mix.

Week 1-3 - Water, Water, Food
Week 3+ - Water, Food, Water, Food - Slowely increasing food dosage each time?

Does this sound about right?

It does sound about right to me although I don't know Pro mix. Are you using a moisture meter? That will deff help keep your schedule right on the money. Very hard to guesstimate how much water your plant is sucking up. Can be done but a meter is like thirteen bucks. You'll save that on wasted nutes
