5 gallon vs 4 or even 3 gallon Resevoir

I was wondering if anyone has done a study on what size resevoir works better. I see where the standard using Bubbles as the method of growis by using 5 gallon buckets, but I am wondering if using a smaller res such as a 3 gallon res is just as good. I have seen where they are a little bit more $$ wise, but in the scope of adding nutes, would save some funds in the long run. I have not seen any 4 gallon buckets on the open market, but I am sure that there may be some with a little bit more footwork on my end in obtaining that size ... Just wondering ...

I use 3.5gal buckets because I don't veg too long, which is what it boils down to.

If you plan on vegging over 2 months, go with 5 gals.
