I need a doctor! sick and not growing help!

This is my first grow and it is about two weeks old and hasn't grown much at all for a while. It is hard to see in the picture but the edges of the leaves are brown while the rest of the leaf is a light, unhealthy green color. It is in regular potting soil with all the nutrients in it that iv been told. It is indoor with plenty of ventilation. I water it whenever the soil is not moist and it is under a 23W 120V CFL light at about 10 inches away from the plant. I had the light closer but it dried out the leaves so i backed it up. Diagnosis?

You shouldn't have any nutrients in your soil yet except for what the soil provides. Young sprouts are highly susceptible to nute burn. Plus you need more wattage for your plant to get enough light to grow. I don't add nutes until my plant is at least two to three weeks old.

I haven't added anything to the soil yet. So more light? ill try that

okay i just switched from 1 lamp to 4 so i should be good

how far away should the lights be from the plant?

Not sure just light is gonna help. she looks burnt (no nutes for seeds, even in the dirt). if you dont see much change in the next few days, id say shes cooked. Bummer if it is, but you can always start again.

not trying to start a fight but what your saying isn;t tottaly true onyou last note not giving your plants till there atleast food until there 2 - 3 weeks old ????
i would think soon as a plant has roots its ready for food thats what it needs for instance i give my plants @ 3" height 650+ ppm of food next watering 850 + and next one after that lol 1150 ppm look at these plants @ 29 days from a 3" plant there 45" plus heres what they looked like on sept 11 when i transplanted them into big pots went into flower on day 23

I know im not very expeirenced, but hers my 2 cents.

My first grow failed because I took the seeds and planted them straight into MG Potting Soil, I did not flush the soil or anything first. When the sprout came up I over watered it which was not good for the little sprout. Also while over watering the time release nutes in the soil burned the plant because the more you water it the more nutes are released. Because of budget issues I still use MG, but now I use the MG seed starting mix and the MG Organic Choice potting soil which is not nearly as strong as regular MG Potting soil.

I may be wrong though as I'm also new to growing.

First of all, whoever told you ANY nutrients was an idiot. Slow down the watering a little bit, and make sure your CFL is Full Spectrum, as in 6700K . Also you can do your plant a service by running a fan nearby to move the hot air away from it.

Also if it is your first grow, do yourself a favor and DON'T PANIC. Adding more nutrient and watering more will not do your plant any service, nor will more lights, or anything else you can do. So relax, your plant may die, but at this point there is little you can do about it other than make sure you are only feeding, and watering the plant as much as it needs. Which at this age feed=0, and you water maybe every 3 days.

My guess for what's actually WRONG with the plant is the nutrients. The seed comes with all the nutrients the plant will need for the first 2 weeks of growth (what a deal right?) adding any nutrients during this stage will only disrupt chemical processes ESSENTIAL TO THE PLANTS GROWTH. So odds are your nutrients messed this process up, and its showing all sorts of weird deficiencies because of unfinished germination processes, and over watering.

MG definitely has brutal nutes in any of its products. Most growers are very prissy about using MG. However I love miracle grow for plants I intent on making mothers. Not so much for plants I plan on smoking.

You might want to try picking up General Hydroponic's Go Box. Its 30 bucks for GH's whole line of Organic growing nutrients. Not the greatest yields but the taste, and quality of bud is FANTASTIC.
I use MG all the way up till bloom cycle (if I'm in a hurry) then switch to GH Bloom Cycle regimen. That way you get the aggressive growth out of MG during veg, and the organic quality during Bloom!

What you guys are saying is not necessarily contradictory. He says 2-3 weeks maybe because it takes him that long to get 3" of lights. You may be able to achieve these results faster. Who knows?

I am currently going to be using MG Organic Choice Potting Soil when I transplant, before that I will use MG Seed Starting Mix. The Organic Choice only feeds the plants for up to 3 months so I can add nutes later. I would not add more nutes to the soil unless the nutes that where already there have been used up. Regular MG Potting Soil was brutal on my seedlings which was my fault as I thought all the MG soils where the same strength before I got on here and learned otherwise.

as soon as a seedling or clone has roots it needs NPK thats its life blood for sure you dont drown them in nutes but you give them light traces of nutrients ( superthrive humixes as well as your A and B 's )
I own a family run botanic garden center and breed 100's of different types of plants from cloneing them to seedlings once our seedlings and or clones are rooted my staff then transplants them into our organic soiless mediums that contain nutrients within 2 weeks there litterally showing flowers in our greenhouses and ready for sale

Check your humidity and temps. Seedlings like the one you have going on really like humid conditions, try to get humidome and I bet you will se some growth happen real soon. your plant could just be shocked
