how much larger once you start flowering?

I am having a real hard time determining when to start flowering. My main concern is that if i switch too early they will be well small, and if i go too late they will get too big. Will this even be a factor for me using florescents? I have 8 (4 above 2 side) 48" floros now and about 48" vertical grow room. The tallest is now about a foot tall maybe a little more. They are White widows from seed. any guesses? no SCROG or SOG just a regular grow nothing special.

mines about the same size. little over a month old after being cloned. prob gonna give another week and start flowering

Those have great vigor -- particualry in your side branches. Most fluoro plants I see growing straight up don't have side branches at all but just the two branch starter leaves that don't go anywhere (I hate that). All the growth seems to go to the main fan leaves with most low wattage light grows. (note: hey fluoro growers, hate to break it to you but those side branches that aren't growing is where the buds come from, not the huge main fan leaves).

It all depends on the level of vigor you have. If those plants were vegging in my setup, I'd start flowering now. But then I have insane vigor and really have to worry about my plants sometimes tripling (not just in height) but overall size in flower. Your concern is not quite the same as mine, though. What you have to worry about is stretching without thickening... which fluoros are notorious for.

Thats why I added the 4 bulb fixture to the side hoping it will help those side branches. I will let them grow another week I think and then turn them. Worst case I can bend them from the front back and hope the side light will help enough.

i'd veg a lil longer, if it gets too tall you can always supercrop that bia (lazy mans scrog)! Don't mind the Fluoro hater you'll be fine. Flowering stretch depends more on genetics than "vigor"

2 reasons I think you're getting good results with that light.

1) it's a good strain, whatever that is you're working with.
2) you have the lights super close.

Keep it up. And I would def encourage you to train if you can. They lower you keep them in flower, the closer you will be able to place your lights. (if you intend to flower with those that is)

I wanted to go with the old fashion way first and then try my hand at some of the other styles of growing and training. I am very proud of them so far just first grow worries I guess. Ever since I started to see nut burn I have been really worried. I am looking at picking up a 600W light this weekend and if I am looking at the pics then it can be used for both MH and HPS.
