2011 First Ever Outdoor Grow

I know this may be a stupid question, but what do I save for cannabutter and hash or other things? Do I keep all the fan leaves or just the small leaves coated in resin poking out of the buds? I'm not gonna have much trim at all if it's just the small frosty leaves lol

thats not a stupid question.
I have not made hash before, its something that is eating me alive actually... lol.... there are tons of great hash makers on this site. Dubbzor just made a shit load..looks quite yummy.
BUT i have made loads of cannabutter, very very strong cannabutter and LOVE LOVE making it so much. funny thing is i dont eat it though. Im get deathly ill from it so i donate it to the coop for patients to use.
Sooooo .. this is what i do...i hope this makes sence.

I harvest my plants catching all the leaves, trim, ect. in a small tray and then just place it all on cardboard or paper... doesnt really matter..it just makes it easier to keep it all together if its on a flat surface. Let them sit out and dry till they are crispy dry, maybe turn the over once and a while. dont pile them up on top of eachother but keep them as flat and level as possible to dry quickly.
Once dry I place them all in a plastic bag and toss them in the freezer until all my leaves are dry.

Once i have all the leaves i want to use.. i take all the stems off. pulling or snipping with scissors.
then i grind them in a coffee grinder.
I use 1.5-2 oz of ground leaves/trim to 1 lb of unsalted high fat content butter.
You will need a crockpot. I have a cheap one i bought at walmart for like 10 bucks...
turn it on low and melt the pound of butter. Once it is melted add the trim and a couple glasses of water.
I let it sit overnight.. some peeps do as little as 2 hours of low heat.. i go ususally 12 hours.
then let it cool down
you will need some cheesecloth next.
Pour strain the cannabutter through the cheesecloth into a container, i use a glass bowl.
Once there is a load of trim on the cheesecloth i wrap it up and squeeze the bejesus outta it to get all the butter.
so have plenty of cheese cloth..lol
Once you have filtered all the butter through ( of course throwing out the leaf shit)
place your butter into the fridge and let sit until the water and butter seperate.
wha laaaa! the butter will be on top and the water at the bottom.. bon appetite..

I've read a few guides on how to make dry ice hash which looked pretty easy. I'll get all the trim ready first and then decide what I'm going to do with it lol. Thanks for the great info Amber!

Here's some pics of the trim rampage I went on last night lol. Right now I'm just trying to get off all the fan leaves til they dry, then I'm gonna come back in and do a fine trimming collecting more sugar leaves for butter/hash. Anyways, I probably finished half of the Red Dragon and just a branch of the Dolce. The purple haze, chernobyl and Cali Hash Plant were all harvested yesterday as well and are trimmed and drying. The first pic is a Red Dragon nug, sorry the quality is REALLY shitty. Second and third are a Dolce Vita cola that was looking mighty tasty, again really bad quality. And the fourth pic is the dismembered females drying in the horse trailer lol . I love how the weather got nice and cool for my outdoor dry XD although there's moisture in the air now... Went to upload pics last night and realized my computer charger is broken and my computer is dead lol. Ordered a new one from hp this morning... Like $95!!! Ridiculous. Will have pics in a few days, or I could use my sisters laptop trimming is going well, its hard to resist smoking some lol. I keep telling myself just a few more weeks

Trimming has been slow, whenever I get a chance to I trim but I haven't had much free time lately between school and work. I guess I'll see if there's a taste difference between buds that had leaves on when they dry and ones that have leaves off lol. They're looking really tasty, my hands smell delicious after I trim... it almost doesn't even smell like weed lol. Not sure what I'm going to do with the trim yet, I'll have to start watching some hash making vids. The dry is coming along pretty well, the morning dew can't get to them (I think) because they're in the horse trailer. I was really worried about it being over 100 in there while they're drying, so I'm happy with how cool it is, it looks like they're getting a nice slow dry! Still haven't found any worms I got really lucky. thanks for checking it out bud!

alright dude, go to youtube and type in butane hash exchange, save all of your plant leaves that have crystals on them and your upper 1/3rd of your stems....

really easy, basically you grind your plant matter up, put it in a turkey baster (glass tube with one small hole on the bottom, looks like a giant syringe with no top), get a bottle of butane lighter refill, make a cap so the bottle is airtight at the top of the turkey baster making a type of cap with a small hole, and run the whole can or 2 through the baster with matter in it... run it through really slow so it doesnt freeze... do it outside... and the stuff that drips out is earwax type hash so drip it into a big glass area.... wait for all of the butane to dissolve... ive done this over a dozen times, you can use a pvc tubing with two cap on each side also, just drill holes... but yeah youtube man

Hey Amber! I've been pretty good, just really busy. I have another class that's starting this week so my work load isn't going to get any lighter lol. I'm really annoyed at HP, after purchasing one computer I've already decided that I will never give their company my business again just because of this charger bs. They sent me the wrong charger, so I returned it. They tried to tell me that the only charger that would fit my laptop that was a wall adapter was $150. So I go onto amazon (like I should have to begin with) and find THE SAME CHARGER for $25 before shipping.... WOW FUCK YOU HP. Well, after my rant lol in other news the Super Skunk and Gigabud have both been harvested and are currently drying. Sadly my friend who was growing the super lemon haze indoor for me has to take down his set up due to unknown causes. My parents are glad to be done with it for the year so they were not very happy when I asked if we could bring the plant to our house, so I'm not too sure what's happening with it right now lol, it's still in the indoor set up he hasn't taken it down yet. Besides these 3 plants, everything is all jarred up and mostly finished trimming. I don't have a scale but my estimated yield between the Red Dragon and Dolce Vita is probably between 8-10 oz. They filled up 12 big ball canning jars packed somewhat loosely. I haven't smoked any of the dolce vita yet, but I tried some of the Red Dragon a few days ago and it didn't taste very good but I was SO HIGH. I'm not sure if my mind kind of amplified the high just because I was so excited to smoke it or if the weed is actually that good lol! I guess we'll see in the coming months. I think my laptop charger gets here wednesday, so I'll be uploading a lot of pics then! Didn't really realize how much I've been typing lol sorry! I was just writing an essay rough draft and I'm still in type down all my thoughts mode lol Hope you're doing well! I'm taking a trip to SoCal with my family this coming weekend, it'll be the first time I've had multiple days off in a row since summer lol, can't wait!

I hope you had/ having a fun trip. It sounds like a well deserved break. I wish i could help house the super lemon haze. Im upset at your parents for not helping to save her. Nice pull from the harvested girls.. isnt it a great feeling to have all that herb!!! . All your time, effort, money , investment has paid off beautifully brandon. Congratualtions on a job very well executed.
I will be looking foward to your upcoming pictures and wild stories of your vacation. thats funny about RD and the high.. im sure it was fur real..what do your folks think of it?
