im not hatin on ya. just my opinion

I'm not knocking fdd's pipes either. I have never seen one in person so I am unable to say if they are thick or thin or high quality or low quality or how they would compare to a Dagga made pipe.

But when it comes to Dagga pipes I am talking from a position of ownership experience rather than just making up my mind by looking at pictures online. I have one, a double-layered blue stripe, sitting inches from my keyboard at this moment and I can positively tell you that it is thick and it is heavy and it is durable.

I believe you.. he just hides it well. Looking at the choke hole it doesn't look very thick it all. I've blown bubbles too thin before and they look like that.

i can tell fdd's are thick. the depth of the color and the look of the piece. they look like they are thick as shit you can see the clear on one of the mouthpieces is thick. and then theres color rods ran on top of that. then more clear. i would trust dropping one of those.

There is something else to consider. Blown glass like that will vary from pipe to pipe regardless of the manufacturer. Admittedly the kip of the choke in the picture you chose to post does look on the thin side. But when compared to my Dagga pipes it protrudes more and, again, the outer lip does look thinner. Mine are different. There is not as much of a protrusion and the lip is definitely thicker. Since glass like this is not mass produced to exacting standard it would be an injudicious assumption to make that all, or most, other pipes made by Dagga would be the same as the one in the picture. Not one of mine has a thinnish looking lip like the one pictured. If anything they are amazingly thick.


While this pictures is not a side angle and does not show the same thing as the picture you posted it does show how the amount of protrusion varies from pipe to pipe.

I have never worked with glass but in my experience with glass pipes it appears to me that the more the glass is stretched/pulled (or whatever) the thinner it gets. I think you would agree to that. Based on my pipes, on the pipes of friends who have bought Dagga pipes on my recommendation and the size of the protrusion of those above, I tend to believe that the one you used a picture of is not truly representative of what would be more normal from a Dagga pipe.

i think they do call that method double layered. nothing like what is being shown though.

you can make something 16 "layers", and then puff it out paper thin. none of it really means anything.

I believe the term double layer refers to the inside out style of glass blowing. As I am sure you know, that style of glass has the color applied to the inside of the pipe creating two layers of glass. The layer of color on the inside shines vibrantly through the clear outside.

That is how Dagga makes their pipes.

as an experienced glass blower i can see EXACTLY how and what those pipes are. no need to explain anything.

Just like paper. In fact even thinner than paper. No one should ever buy one. Mine were obviously an error in manufacturing and that would explain why they are thicker than Hell.

If you need to be an fdd groupie and try to pimp his wares for him that is cool and the gang with me. But don't you think it is more than just a little absurd that you expect people to believe that you can judge the thickness of glass in pipes you have only seen pictures of better than someone who owns pipes of that type can?

I suppose if you looked at pictures of two pontoon boats sitting side by side you could look at the pontoons and know that one is made of .064M aluminum and the other is made of .090M aluminum.
