Here Comes another NU-B?

It's about time I started my grow after 3 months of countless reading. I am doing it inside my closet in my apartment and wanted to run my set with some seasoned vets. i am using some reg bag seeds as an experiment and it will consist of 5 seeds.

i plan to use MG African Violet soil
I want to start with CFL but do not know which type to use
i can get 2 30 watt cfls per plant or 1 125 cfl per plant
can you plz help me

I have read on here many more bad experiences with MG soil than most other types. Any bagged soilless mix will likely have enough nutes in it to get the plant into the veg stage. I'll have to leave the CFL questions to another, I've only been using a combination of T5 and T12 until recently when I upgraded the whole system to T5 only.

Thanks magic. the reason i am asking these questions is because there are so many diff methods of growing i am trying to get the best for my budget

I totally second that. And in the book, he uses Miracle Gro and it works out just fine for him, lol, better than fine when you look at the size of his buds.

Thanks for the insight but instead of buying another book i think i might order some black gold and use 4 150 watt CFL's
or
I might spring for a 400 watt MH to use for the entire grow.

MG is not bad soil it is the time release fert that makes it bad for pot and the only reason why it is bad for pot. Many many people use the organic type with great results.

Im using 8 26w cfls and a 200w growlite, but in hydro system. They seem to be working great for me so far, but id definitley recommend a HID if you can afford it.
