Purchasing seeds online question

When looking on a website to purchase seeds.. was wondering when it says

Sex : Feminized
Type : Mostly indica
Flowering : Photoperiod
Genetics : Feminized Rox strain
Flowering Time : 8-10 weeks******************
Outdoor Harvest : Middle of September
Height : Medium
THC Level : High
Characteristics : Aroma as fresh and sweet as strawberry-mint

Does the 8-10 weeks mean from seed to harvest ... or is that from when you switch to 12/12 it'll be 8-10 weeks til harvest .. so meaning it doesnt include the veg growth time


And now time to vent... First time grower... used bag seeds... had 8 plants going now down to 3 .... 5 males so far out of the 8 ... am i fucking cursed or something???

TYVM.. and 1 more question .. sorry to be a hassle... i have some seeds on there way to my house as we speak... and i was wondering this grow i used a 250W HPS the entire cycle ... through veg and now in flower.. once i start my next setup i was wondering i found a website that i could buy a 1000W MH for veg and a 1000W HPS for flower... is that too much Wattage.. or is that kind of falling under there's no such thing as too much wattage

1000 watts is what they use in professional grow houses, I use it, go for it the plants love it.

I like to use something like T5 for veg stage, and use the High Watts for flowering ... but thats just me

The biggest thing to consider is the extra heat that 1000w will put out.


IMO keep with your 250w and master it, with a good strain and better technique you could easily harvest 150g dry bud.

Is 150g enough to last you from harvest to harvest?

heat ain't really an issue, just get a good vortex fan for your grow area and a fan blowing over the plants, keeping the heat away. Preferably that fan should be blowing to the same side as the vortex fan. I just killed a plant because I dried it out too much though, oh well I got like 5 others that popped up and are just fine.

which say it can harvest up to 500G per plant... and im saying if i even get half of that i'm extremely happy... my grow closet is 6X3X7 and im growing for me, my girlfriend, and my brother so idk.... and where i am winter's coming so my house will stay around 65 Degree's then the grow room will stay around 80ish... u think i'd be better off getting a 600W of each?... and from what i've read MH is best for veg and HPS is best for flower... correct? im basically just trying to get the most yeild from my plants as possible and not too sure if the lighting would grant me higher yeilds or not

I know how to deal with heat, i just dont know the budget, he may only have enough cash for the light. In which case i still advise to save your money and master your craft first. Just because you use a 1000w lamp doesnt mean the plants gonna grow by itself.

if you're going to upgrade at all I suggest you just go to 1000 watt and be done with it. The price difference between 600 and 1000 is pretty small if you find the right hydro places.

how hot did your closet get with the 250w? of course more of the right kind of light is always better and will get you more. yes if you can afford it, get 1000watt MH and HPS bulbs and a switchable ballast. but if your space is 6x3x7 i would personally be worried about heat. that's just me. some people will tell you to blast it with light like you are a professional grow room, but for a closet, you might wanna think long and hard about maintaining temps and ventilation. i use cfls which are not supposed to get hot but brother i am here to tell you they do. the lights alone can bump temps up 10-20 degrees and i have oscillating fans AND cold a/c in the flower room. just something for you to think about, happy growing

The closet stayed around 75 degrees ...the plants did fine... But unfortunately out of the 8 I grew so far 5 fucking males... Which is extremely depressing... But I use a stealth F4 fan exhausting air a 8 inch wall mount fan and yea if the 1000W would be too much I could upgrade to a 600 the main reason I'm looking to upgrade because I used the 250HPS for veg and now for flower and for my next grow which I'm growing feminized seeds I'm going to buy a Metal Halide for the veg phase and just figured id buy a new HPS while I was on the site I found both 1000W bulbs hps and mh for under 40 bucks each so figured it wouldn't hurt but the heat might be an issue so I'm thinking maybe a 600W and I guess my last question would be how accurate is the projected yeilds from the strain review on the site I bought the seeds from is the 500g's a feesable expectation or should I expect like half that???

lol, are you refering to me again? I've grown many plants hydroponically, I just don't boast about it on a forum, it's just stupid. My dick is a fine size, I don't need other people to know how big it is.

Like I said, if you got a decent extractor fan, and you have a box fan blowing on your plants, a 1000 watt will do just fine. But you need the box fan to blow away the heat or the plants will get crispy.

A 1000 watter in a 3x6x7 ft closet is on the verge of over kill and will pose a challenge to keep cool. 7 ft height minus a foot for the hood. 6 ft left minus a ft for the pots. 5 ft left minus 3 ft space between light and plants. 2 ft left for actuall plant growth, dont need a 1000 watt light to grow a 2 ft plant. And electricity being payed by the landlord you dont think a 70-80 dollar or more spike in the power bill wont have them knocking on the door? A 400 watt light on a light mover would be the way I would go in a space that size. And I agree with Jondo, keep the 250 and work on your growing skills before firing up the big lights a bigger possible issues. Keep it small at first and work your way up......

personally i find the idea of feminized seed, bit disgusting.

what it means that, if you lose your stock, you will have to buy again from the breeder (its a totally commercial idea, similar to the sterile seeds farmers are forced to buy)

plus its often said about feminized that it will hermy.

which is bit funny, having a 5% hermy is useful (got 3 strains that make about 1 seed per bud, each seed is basically like a clone of the plant lol)

to a point, you lose so much potential in breeding if you lose the males. (plus the hermies, 5% though they are, might go 100% hermy and stay that way for some reason (personal experience))

so easy to lose the strain this way.

Id rather put faith in a breeder then in random seed possibility because yes I'm a first time grower but after having my first grow...after almost 3 months come to find out my 8 plants are now 3 because so far I've had 5 males...which has been extremely discuraging.... So ill take the 5% heirmy chance as opposed to 50% male... Because this 5 male production so far is really hurting my ego after growing 8 beautiful plants and having to chop them down...

honestly I never saw how big your grow space was. 600 watt would fit well, but if you plan on upgrading your space to a bigger space, which a lot of people end up doing eventually, you might as well go 1000 watt, I still stand with what I say.
