Final Flushing Discussion

Ok so after a few successful grows and of course the constant research to make things better I was wondering "how long does everyone flush for?"

Seems most flush for 2 weeks. Although I have seen ppl only flush for 3 days with great results (thats with a 1500+ ppm schedule)

My biggest concern is the 1 week "harvest window" with myself still being a noob its difficult to determine when to start flush to be able to chop during that week.

I do use a flushing agent (clearex) If anyone uses, How long do you flush for, Do you use clearex the entire flush? Again the way I been doing it works for me I'm just on a quest for knowledge to perfect my grow.

i've always flushed with plain ph'd water for 2 -1/2 weeks before harvest .. never tried clearex ..

I don't flush....what chemicals? Nutes are broke down to ions when used by the roots and stored in the leaves, no matter organic or otherwise an ion is an ion. We don't smoke leaves we smoke flowers! Keep your plants happy. I just don't see any reason worth "flushing"...

the reason for flushing towards the end of a grow from my understanding is to cut it off from its nutrient supply and reduce the amount of building blocks needed to produce chlorophyll, so it produces a cleaner smoke in a shorter amount of time drying/curing...

I flush twice, when I switch the lights and nutes after vegging, and again a week or so before harvest.
First flush to clean out the veg nutes and second flush to improve taste.

See, these are proper reasons for flushing +REP

Any science behind this? It just makes no sense to me, drying is about water content not chemical. If your after a shorter dry/cure or better flavor then look into different methods of dry/curing, not growing/harvesting. Lowering humidity and allowing the plant to use up its water just before harvest is supposed to increase resin(questionable) and speed up drying/cure time, makes more sense to me.

drying it quickly(if in a rush to get it to market), traps chlorophyll, nitrates, and pigments, so if you can reduce those towards the end of your grow, you can in turn dry and cure it "faster", but probably reduce yield a little bit...fucked if i know...some do, some dont, its all a matter of personal preference...

People often flush to help with salt build up, this is a good reason to flush but not the one the OP is talking about. The flush to improve taste thing is old as time so I'm not even gonna waste time arguing but its a myth IMO. I'd love to see some science behind it...could also use some better terminology on the different types of "flush"

I didn't intend for this to be a argument for the non believers of sorts. I was just trying to see what other methods of flushing works. I know what the difference is between flushing and not flushing, obviously why I flush. I think Ghandi said it best..... If it dont apply let it fly. (think he said it :-)
