BEST mix of sugar/yeast/water to get most co2?

Well I was told that my mix should last 10 days +. Yet, I find it only lasts a day or 2, even after shaking it.
Originally, I was just using 1 hose for 1 plant. Today, I added a second hose, but it's only coming out of one hose. No matter what I do, it only comes out 1 hose. No obsrtuctions or anything either.
I've been using a 2 liter bottle.
What should I be using for amounts of sugar/yeast/warm water?
I've tried 1 1/2 tbls of Yeast, 3/4 cup of sugar, and a liter of warm water (about 4 cups)
I also tried 2 tbls of yeast, 1 cup of sugar, and then filling the bottle almost to the top (8 cups) with warm weather.
The latter seems to work the best but only for a couple days.
Thanks guys.

1/2 - 1 tsp of yeast and 2 cups of sugar works great I usually like it at 3/4 tsp of sugar for 2 cups of sugar. The yeast eats the sugar pretty fast so you need more sugar.

It's all in how much yeast you add. If you want lots of CO2 then add lots of yeast. If you want it to last a long time add much less.

Generally it's 2 cups sugar and a half teaspoon of yeast in 2 liters of water for slow release (2-3 weeks).

If you want more CO2 then add more yeast - like you've been doing. Might also try champagne yeast - it tends to smooth out the growth rate - slowing down the CO2 release rate as well.

I think it would be good to keep a seperate two liter of sugar water mext to your co2 to add to it every other day, its a bitch any other way

another genous thread, dangggggg i had never thought about yeast creating co2 thats awesome, how big of a room does this work for?

Check out aquarium websites - they have perfected the DIY CO2 system, many have multiple tanks, pressure regulators, bubble counters...

I have done trials with adding co2 this way and it was a complete waste of time , infact all it did was attract ants and other such bugs, if you do your research you will see that the amount of co2 you are actually providing your plants this way is less than the content of co2 in normal fresh air , in my trial (ask if you want the link) the plants that had co2 added this way were exactly the same as the 1's without. sorry to piss on your fire, peace ....

I'm going to respectfully disagree.
I've been using this method for a week on 1 plant, and 2 without it. It is obvious which plant has had the co2 treatment.

So, anyone have any idea why it would come out what tube, but not the other. The setup is so basic, I don't see what could be wrong.

i use 1/2 tbsp of yeast and 3 to 4 cups of sugar. it lasts about 3 to 4 weeks. if you use more yeast than that it will ferment much faster and only last a week. i used that for a small room and at the time i used it i saw a dramatic difference. also I found that brown sugar works better and lasts longer than reg sugar

Thats fine , if it was working you would not notice within 1 week , this is my area of work , the science has been done , you are not adding any more co2 to the natural air around your plants , my friend , i wish it did work , budget methods are always popular and people do things more in hope than actually having the correct knowledge , when i return from the lab to my pc , i will post the trial i did for you , , you would however if you pursist with this method , would find better gain from using brown sugar , although again the affect is minimal , peace.

I agree that CO2 system is worthless in some cases especially when you have air coming in and out from outside but say a sealed room? wouldn't that need to be supplemented?

wouldnt a simple co2 meter tell us everything we need to know?

someone should take a picture of the room co2 meter befroe and after the yeast sugar mix is made. if the dial moves up then we have an answer if not, well then we know.

If you are rapidly circulating the air or even have a fan pointed directly at the plants then DIY systems do little. If you have a small enclosure with little air movement then DIY CO2 can do wonders.

Science has been done - all of which suggests that higher CO2 levels benefit plants...

Yes Co2 benefits plants , the dispute is if or not a simple sugar yeast fermintation mix is actually boosting the c02 amount that is already in the air around your plants. The science which i will show you as soon i can , says no.

How would adding CO2 not boost the CO2? I run a DIY CO2 system in my aquarium and my aqueous CO2 tester definitely picks it up - just as much a tank system

Yes, my room is a sealed closet, pretty much 30"x30"x 8' high.
Doesn't really get much "fresh air" in there. I don't see how adding co2 doesn't boost the co2 level? I'm no scientist, but seems like simple stuff.
