the biggest buds with 600W HPS or 400W MH + 400W HPS ?

2X 400 watt. Its going to give you more lumens. A lot more.
You should now this question just for the fact that 800 watts is more than 600 watts. A better question would of been which is better a 800 watt bulb or 2x 400 watt bulbs. 2x 400 watts is better because it will give off more lumens and you can control your light distribution better with 2x 400 watts instead of a single 800 watt bulb. You can also light more growing area with 2x 400 watt bulbs instead of a single 800 watt bulb. I dont even think they make a 800 watt bulb but you get my drift

ok now I have another question, at which point are the lumens cancelling themselves out? like say you have to 400 W side by side, part of the plants get exactly the same amount of each light ,... can you say it doubles in lumens?
I have 2 ufos as side lighting, if I put my hands in front of the HID, I cannot see the red or the blues from either LEDs, is this light still doing it`s job?
now say you have 4 400W side by side forming a small square, can you say you have the same lumens as a single 1600W bulb?

You should have added the 2 400w hps I would have chosen that. having a 400w mh in flower will make smaller buds. Its nice to have the blue spectrum in flower but not that much. try the 430 sonagro they work nicely for me.

Oh yeah. I didnt see that part. I wouldnt put a MH in a flower room either.

oh I heard dual spectrum was really good for bud quality, ... didnt know it would decrease the yield...

I do know that lumens do start to cancel themselves out at a certain amount but I don't know exactly the formula for that. I do know that this doesnt apply to you though. With your space and having 2x 400 watt will be perfect. If you had something like 4x 400 watt than I would maybe start to think you have an overload of lumens.
If you cant see the rays you may have to many lumens. 4x 400 watt bulbs are going to be better than a 1600 watt bulb. same explanation as before. You are getting more lumens out of 4 bulbs, you can distribute light better, and control it better.
I have a 4 x 2 grow tent for veg. I only use a 400 watt MH full blue spectrum bulb. When done correctly its all I need. I sometimes think about getting another 400 watt bulb for the room. It would definetly help but not in the budget right now. Flower room is the same but I use a 400 watt HPS bulb. Only One or two plants go in the flower room at a time. The veg room has about 9 plants in it.
