Kingrows Seedlings

I have run a lot of seedling threads and this is just the latest installment. I am opening my veg room up to the general members of Rollitup once again and everything is the same as before, T5 Lightwave unit, desktop fan etc etc. I just harvest a plant a week or so and my veg room simply needs to produce a plant ready to flower every week or so to keep my flowering room continuous, simples!

I grow short and fat, top early and Lst lots with plenty of pinching and bending in between to keep small for the flowering room. I yeild big enough to never have to buy weed from my local neighbourhood dope feind and only use Cfl's and flouros to do it, 600watts in total, 100watts in the veg room and 500watts in the flower room.

Simple soil mix, multipurpose westlands store bought soil, perlite 30%, Vermiculite 10% Lime 2% and mix well.

Pics show me re-potting up a plant from 4inch pot to 7inch final flowering pot. Notice the size of the plant for its small pot, Rootbound only just which is why im transplanting it. This is showing in the slight purpling in the leaf stems and getting a little droopy too.

Anyone talks about being rootbound and needing a re-pot then just make sure their about the size of mine first or basically you have cultural and environmental problems you need to sort out first. Some of the small ass plants i see with people saying transplant is simply ridiculous, false economy with todays soil prices!

dd 006.jpgdd 007.jpgdd 008.jpg

So notice the roots and structure, so many people go on about the roots at the bottom of the pot! Big deal these are the first and fastest to form, try waiting for the roots to establish in the rest of the soil like me, notice the roots around the sides of the soil mass.

My water is normally pH8.1 but as winter approached it quickly dropped to pH7.4. Maybe my water supplier has switched resovoir or adding less to the water as its cooler and less bacterial growth. Personally i dont care and dont pH water as there is a big difference between the pH of the fertilizer solution and the Ammoniacal nitrogens effect on the soils pH.

For the watering in i simply added some Gnat off (stupid little gnats just wont go away!) and some benificials for the soil in the form of various funghis and bacterias. The other ingredients i might use are on the right, maxicrop seaweed, fish emulsion (veg fert) and a touch of cal/mag for my soft water. Peace

My flowering room, not so much a room as a small space at the bottom of my drobe. Gives me a plant every week or so to flower and generally i have four plants max. A seedling germinating, one a week after and so on till they go to be flowered.

Lightwave T5 unit 2foot x 4 tubes, seen my soil mixes although the smaller pots are the same mix but just with seedling soil.

Smallest plant and seedling just had 400ppm fish emulsion, about a week or so old.

dd 016.jpg

This plant has had two ferts, 400ppm fish emulsion at one week and another dose a week ago, this is three weeks from seed.

dd 017.jpgdd 015.jpg

Four weeks from seed and had the two previous ferts and now a repot, wont need ferts for a weekor so and then just a very low dose which i might just add some liquid seaweed to for some micros and cal/mag maybe.

The purpling on the leaves and slight leaf edge curl is lack of nutes, was a little root bound befor transplant and just started showing small, very small problems. Will be sorted in a week when new roots grow in the new soil, simples.

Getting colder, normally i run a little higher temp and humidity wise but winter is here, soon i will use a portable radiator to heat my flat to a nice ambient 18 degrees celcius to give me between 20 to 25 celcius lights on in the veg and flowering room.

My bad, anyone can shoot questions at me or ask about my methods, pics and other methods are greatly appreciated, anything relevant or anyone wanting to discuss seedling problems, im always about most days. Peace

do you just grow from seed and flower every time o_O? or do you have a mother plant?
I use to grow from my own seeds made from selfing plants but now i buy sensi feminised super skunk.

The joy of topping plants is that the top can become a clone so in fact you can run a motherless clone situation.

Alas i prefer to use seeds at the moment as a seperate mother tent is not viable, i do want to move back to cloning soon though. When i cloned the rooted clone would go straight into my multi purpose soil, seedling soil is too light for clones imo but other than that most things would be the same except i find seeds are easier to keep short from the start and look astetically pleasing. Peace

still very good read m8
Ah im no authority on growing but like to show what i do for others to gain some experience.

Been working to get rid of some purple stems on some leaves in the veg room, adding my grow to some plants seems to have shifted it quite well, will post pics and writeup later when i go home for another bud as i cant take pics till them. Freaking love my veg area. Until later, Peace

So a pic of my veg room with a bit more perspective, sorry its sideways but i forgot to edit it before uploading. stoner! As you can see in the pictures i have had some decent growth since last time, seedlings got its second set of leaves out and is greening up well after 400ppm Biobizz fish mix which i also gave last time.

gf 012.jpggf 011.jpggf 009.jpg

The next one up in size is going very well, she has just had her third light dose of the fish mix again plus she is fast getting rid of those few purple branches she has.

gf 010.jpggf 008.jpg

The largest of the three is pretty much ready for the flowering room but just before and after the transplant i picked up some bad purple stems again. A few days on and they are slowly clearing due to being in fresh soil after the transplant. I might consider a light feed but i reckon she will be good and loose that purpling without a fert simply due to the nutes in the westlands multi purpose compost.

gf 006.jpggf 007.jpg

I know not why exactly this purpling starts but i do know that for me it is simply a small lack of ferts and a real handy sign before onset of deficiency. Some say its related to Phosphorous and some evidence points to the lack of calcium an unhealthy plant uptakes.

Certainly it is shrouded in some marijuana mystery and deficiency but i simply build up the veg nutes and it goes away. To me there is some subtle differences between getting purple stems in veg and flower but both seem to point to some lack of nutrients.

I will try and update again soon and try and show how the purple stems progressed especially on my middle sized of the three plants as i have only earlier added some more ferts to it so results should show soon. Either way genetics has absolutly nothing to do with it for my strains. Peace

I forgot, there is a fourth plant in there but she was an auto flower that i thought would stay short and flower early, ive already topped her and pinched the top two branches hoping to keep her short but i have yet to see a single flower so reckon either some hardcore Lst'ing to keep her short or im gona chuck her out. Either way i have been put of autos by this one plant, finished in 80days is a very optimistic strain guide here i think!lol! Peace

i never understood why people even bother with auto;s takes ffor ever to finish i would think what 80 days thats just crazy
lol king chuck that thing out lol if its a 80 day plant

wow king looking really good how do you like that sensi food
I got sensi cal/mag but the rest is Biobizz, if your meaning the nutes in general (sensi food) ive got to say that having so much control and reading your plants makes adding nutes a real fun experience, feed them up, solve little deficiencies etc etc When i first started growing weed adding nutes was a scary unknown experience.

Im thinking of adding the first veg nutes to the soil when i transplant, being organic they seem not to kick in till a few days later and my seedlings really appreciate a one of light feed at week one or so, this would give the nutes a chance to break down i guess but will document and try this with the next seedling that pops which should be anyday soon. Seems to be taking its time germinating so last night i put another seed in a jiffy cube in anticipation of not sprouting, should it sprout i cull the weakest one of, should it not sprout hopefully ive covered my back. My germination rate is about 99% to 100%, very few dont germinate.

I also worked out where im getting so many damn fungus gnats from in my veg room! I wasnt treating the peat cubes so they were able propogate their young larvae in the peat. learnt my lesson here, even peat cubes can support a large population of fungus gnats. I will in future apply the fungus gnat bacteria to the peat cubes as well.

Happy growing!

Probably gona eventually, ive kept her stunted a little to reduce height but i dont see how shes gona finish in another 56 days when i havent even seen a preflower, autos seem like the cfls of the weed world, grow them if you cant grow anything else but dont expect to be amazed. With a few more auto strains i might find the genetics im looking for but im gona stick to the fem seeds for now. Peace
