Sector 5 Moderator
It's not much to look at now; seedlings never gave anybody much of a woodie. ...well maybe. But I gotta start somewhere so I might as well start at the beginning. One pic is of them germinating and the lights (and my son's snowboard). I put the seeds into fresh Rapid Rooters, then put them in the tray with about 1/4" of warm water in the bottom. Then I put the dome on with the vents open and the tray is on a seedling heat mat, one of the most important things you can have for germing seeds.
By the next day I had 2-3 already coming up, mainly the Ice. I started out with two feminized Iranian G13's from Dr. Greenthumb, four Ice (regular), two Pure Power Plant (feminized) and four regular Jock Horror. All of them were up within 2 days except the Jock Horror. I waited another 4 days but three of the Jocks never came up; one cracked and there was green inside but it never showed a tap root. Only one of the Jock's came up successfully.
I put together a ghetto grow tent with 1 x 2 lumber and panda film. I opted for a new Hi Bay (industrial) 6 light T8 fixture. I couldn't help it, it was 4 times brighter than anything else there. For now only every other light is working; I guess I don't have the other 3 lights wired up. If anyone knows about how to fix this please let me know.
After the babies were firmly established in the Rapid Rooters I filled some party cups with ProMix BX with Micohorzae. I put the Rapid Rooters in the prepared BX, watered them in and put them under the lights in the tent.
It's been a week and they are looking great. Two of the Ice are going crazy; I'm almost positive they are males because of their vigor, but that's the plan. When they show signs of being male they are going to be removed and grown in another part of the house away from the girls. Later I will harvest their pollen and save it to dust the best female to do a seed run.
All the females will be my moms. I will take clones from them for the "real" grow in the very near future. I'll be doing these in hydro in an Aeroflo2 type system with 2,000w of HPS. It will be SOG with lollipopping for one huge cola. I will probably be doing around 24 plants under those lights. Don't ask me how much I think I'll get; I have never grown these strains so I have no idea what to expect.
Tonight I broke up a bunch of the BX, mixed in some extra Micohorzae and upcanned them to one gallon pots; this will be the moms permanent home - at least until spring comes then I will probably put them outside for a guerilla grow. I want these to stay small; in fact, if they start getting too big I'll bonsai them. That's pretty radical but it works.
I watered them in with some Liquid Karma. Several of them had roots circling the bottom of the party cups already; that's a very good sign. Rest assured that the forthcoming pix will be better than these. The other two pix were taken today.
