Thats a lot of buck for that growroom mate, Wow 3 grand would do marvalous things.
Most of my time is spent tying plants back, tucking fan leaves and adjusting the plants to allow the most light through to the lower branches. I like to linger a little as well. The only way to notice minor changes is by spending time with the plants. I have learned a lot and have been able to identify suttle changes in the plants and catch things before they get out of control.u definately have an excellent point about personality traits these new guys with the questions are stupid and lazy for the most part a bunch of dumbass kids ......i guess what caught my attention more than anything was a hour or two a day with the plants.................... what are u doing ??? i open the door everyday make sure there still in there............3 grand sounds like a lot for 5 or 6 buckets

You know what...youre right, after reading what you guys have had to say, I think you're right. It does have more to do with the seriousness of approach a person takes than their method. I recant my former statement.I would like to politely disagree. I don't think success or failure has anything to do with whether you are a 'newbie' or not. I'm a 'newbie' and have been wildly successful. Although 20 years ago I did have a couple successful grows in soil under standard generic fluorescent bulbs. If you call getting a 1/4 zip after 6 months successful. LOL
i think the success or failure depends more on the following:
Are you a detail oriented person?
Do you have the money to invest in a PROPER grow setup? (ie. Lights, water chiller, CO2, dehumidifier, nutes, etc. . . )
Do you have the time to invest in caring for the your crop? Atleast an hour or two EVERY day!
Do you have 2-3 hours a day to read forums and grow related materials in an attempt to educate yourself on ALL things Cannabis?
Can you be consistant and maintain a daily vigil over your crop for 10-12 weeks?
Are you a dedicated person? Can you commit to DAILY responsibilities and maintain that level for extended periods of time?
I have ZERO experience with hydro before I read everything I could get my hands on. I did this for 2-3 months before I invested about $3k in my setup.
The bottom line is this. A hard working, dedicated newbie who is willing to invest the time, materials, money & patience WILL be successful in a hydro setup. Experience has little to do with success. However, patience, drive, willingness to learn and take advice, determination & budget more directly impact the success or failure than whether or not someone is a 'newbie'.
I have some experience in soil grows and ALMOST nothing I learned by growing in soil is drectly related to hydro. With the exception of the traits I described above.
I'll post a current pic of my 1st time growing in a DWC setup. These plants were germinated/seedlings for about 10 days to 2 weeks, then veg'd for 4 weeks. The pic below is the end of the 1st week of flowering 12/12.

Waterfarm, Floranova bloom only and a good meter in my opinion is all you need besides the lighting of your choice. Feed the plant according to what the meter tells you. it's not hard to grow a weed. Soil growing in my opinion requires more skill and experienced eyes to have a decent harvest.
Talk to me about a soil grow. I'm going to do an outdoor soil grow (maybe hydro too) in the spring.ive been doing soil 5 years.
never wanted to do hydro, was interested, but,, mjeh, im messy with water and i rent.
plus, the hydro grows ive tasted, well. im not impressed.
soil is just easy and perfect for a lazy guy like me. and i get perfect tasting buds. (lol, deeper and tastier than whats on the "open market" anyway..)
might not get as much, but i dunno, im fairly comfortable with my yield (meaning, i aint looking to change a thing)
and like i said, im not impressed with the taste of the hydro ive gotten my grubby fingers on lol.
but each to their own.
had a neighbor who did hydro on first run, did pretty good (apart from hermiism)
but i didnt much like even his later grows.
the best he did was pretty fine, but im growing that same strain right now and it tastes alot sweeter.
but hey, each to his own, probably someone that can do hydro real properly, but, usually people go to hydro for yield? yeah?
the thing with cannabis, you have to choose, between yield and quality. (though again, comparatively i think i do allright vs hydro guys,)
..that is very strain dependant.. one strain might give six ounces vs others 2 ounces, the 2 ounce smoke would be finer though..then there is the time involved and growthtechnique.Talk to me about a soil grow. I'm going to do an outdoor soil grow (maybe hydro too) in the spring.
How many plants versus how long of a grow (what 4-6 months or more?) versus the yield. What is your average yield per plant and how much time does it take?
