Dexter From This Season

Anyone watching Dexter this season? I am still not sure what to make of it, but I do like the idea of how the show is exploring different faiths, from people who abuse religion, people who use it for good and how Dexter is questioning what he believes in.

I think so far in the season it is very well structured and doesnt really lean to one side or the other.

Also, I love the new cast this season.

I LOVE Dexter! Such a great show. I haven't seen the most recent season (I just got rid of my cable a few months ago in an effort to watch less TV, it's working) but as soon as the latest season was available on iTunes, I download and watch the season in less than a week. Great writing, great casts, great acting. I just wish the episodes were available the day after they broadcast, like Breaking Bad...

I usually catch them on one or two diff sites the same night it shows. I was less then 5 min into the first episode and was hooked.
im sure this season is gonna be great, problem is im pretty sure this is the last season, so they are going to cram a lot into just a few episodes. Im hoping they dont rush the end of the show.

Just watched the first two episodes of Breaking Bad. very entertaining!
Breaking bad is also another intense show I love. Brian Cranston is such an amazing actor.
Since you just watched the first two episodes recently, remember when he was told he got cancer and has like 2 yrs to live at max, and he was focused on the mustard on the drs shirt. Fucking halarious

Without spoiling anything, This season Dexter asks himself questions about God's existence and coincidentally the serial killer this season is a fundie.

I think the premise is a little silly. Dexter, being a deep thinker and always investigating the world, should have asked these questions about God long ago. They take the time to point out this season how good of a detective Dexter is. He is a forensic scientist after all, extensively trained and practiced, yet when he is presented with illogical arguments for God, he accepts them without criticism, such as pascals wager. I also think it's inconsistent that they paint Dexter as an nonredeemable loner unable to feel emotion or connect with people, yet every season he manages to find someone to bond with and quite easily. A couple of the writers are regulars at the amazing meetings, so I am curous as to what Dexter's conclusions on divinity will be at the end of the season.

Awww, that sucks, Heis! I could have sworn that Dex mentioned God as a silly concept in one of his thoughtful monologs in an earlier season, but that could just be wishful thinking. Just looked it up:

"If I believed in God - If I believed in sin - this is the place where I'd be sucked straight to Hell... if I believed in Hell."

"Was it spontaneous combustion? Divine intervention? If you believe that God makes miracles, you have to wonder if Satan has a few up his sleeve."

"If God is in the details and if I believed in God, he's in this room with me. I just wish he had brought an extension cord."

So, it seems silly that he's contemplating these questions again now. Maybe a mid-life crisis :) As insightful as he is, I hope the season ends with him coming to his senses...

Well I suppose the addition of his Son might be enough for him to re-examine his beliefs, and indeed that is the context they frame it in, but you would think his investigation skills would kick in. It's true we see many scientists put aside their critical thinking skills on Sunday to worship God, but Dexter is not your average scientist, or thinker. Great job finding those quotes!

Dexter is one of my favorite shows, hands down.

This season has been great, Mos Def makes a great character!

I think in the end Dexter will Find a way to aid his dark passenger in a positive way for Harrisons sake. Recently he has been making alot of Bad calls And quite frankly his judgement is poor at the moment. I dont want to see him stop killing but how else will they end the series.

YES, I have been watching Dexter season 6 too. Sad Brother Sam got shot, really starting to like that guy. Very powerful actor too. He didn't die by the looks of the upcoming show. I have a feeling that Deb and the new detective are going to get together, just by there awkward relationship lol I don't like Jamie though..she's kinda random haha
