Do I need to buy pH Up as well as pH Down?

since marijuana likes soil a rather acidic, would it be necessary to spend the extra 10 dollars or so and buy a bottle of pH up? i need to save money everywhere i can.

Personally, I almost never use PH down, but I use Ph up virtually every time I feed my girls. I grow indoors in soil (FFOF w/added perlite) and my PH is always way too low (acidic) once I add nutes to the water. I always adjust mine to 6.45 - 6.55 with a bit of PH up. But it's worthwhile to have both on hand.

that depends on your waters ph normally and after giving nutes. ive never used ph up myself, my normal ph before adding the ph down is around 8 and 7.5ish with nutes added. so ive got no need to use ph up but use ph down every single time. its surprising how long the stuff lasts. i got the 1 lb ph down and ive been using it all the time like i said and after a year im just now running out.

Trust what people have said and I will say even as a newbie I know that it is better too be safe then sorry. You will regret it if you can't fix the PH level after over doing it. I believe there is a cheap ass way of PH up/down using vinegear and baking soda but I can't remember the details as I prefer to be safe then sorry and buy the right products.

well, hypothetically, you could-
dump some of the water with too low of ph out and put in more water thats not ph'd yet and test again, keep trying mixing in and testing till you reach where you need to be.

omg no. if you dump the water out you are lowering the ppm of the solution, so you're going to have to add more nutes. if you do it too many times you could end up using 3 times as much nutes as you intended. seems a lot cheaper to just get the ph up. i myself use silica as a ph up until about the second week of bloom. after that i use the blue stuff. like everyone is saying, ph up is actually the one that gets used the most because nutes usually drop the ph.

I concur. Only start with pH Down when shooting for pure tap water at 6.5 (comes out around 8 here). The fertilizer solutions are quite acidic.
