Purple plants?

no, its the temperature that triggers pigment change. during the night or dark period drop the temperature in the room to around 50 F this will change the pigment of your plants. you are correct in that a lot of strains are predisposed to turn more blue, or dark, or purple but any strain wil respond to dropping the temp in dark cycle.

If you do have a purple strain plant do you still need to drop the temperature or will it turn purple naturally?

you can increase the effect by ropping the temp but purple strains will finish with a purple tint; so the last three weeks of flowering drop the temp at night and watch them really purple up.

Real purp comes from real purp strains. But dropping the temps will give it a more appealing color in my opinion. But i do not practise this, i am fine with my results. Personally if i wanted purp i would buy seeds. But to me there are too many disadvantages to growing purp strains.

Purple Haze from "The Other Place" Amsterdam Is my old lady's pick for the best for she ever smoked,me not so much...
