Waterfarm Scrog Femd Jack Herrer, 740w LEDs

BrokenT - Hey brother... nice grow. Are you only running your pump 12 hours a day? Don't know if I understood your post above. If so, you should consider running pump 24-7. Very interested to see how the JH blows up. Keep it up man.
 
Replace original pump with beast mode industrial pump and run 24/7 like fuz nut said and you will like the results trust me ;)
 
Ah, got it. Ok, let's see how she does at only 12. You may have issues down the road, but sending good vibes bro. As Kap said, upgrading the pump is a must. The stock pump is shit and loud. My waterfarm's are modified and the first thing was a high output pumps (min 40-60 gal), dual output (to feed airstone in res).

Will be following your grow to the end brother.
 
I'm excited as well. While putting the screen into the brown part of the bucket, I had to push aside some clay pellets, and didn't see much roots in the clay. However, the res in the bottom part of the bucket is filling with roots. Looks like the Jack knew about the 12 hours off and sent it's main taproot down, and didn't grow much on the clay pellets.
 
Yea I got a fat rootball up top and root dotted my bottom half when I ran mine last it's ciz it was simmer and 100 outside and 9"-95 ambient so no good for roots in the rez
 
One month and Two days from sprouts emerging. I started training for the scrog today. Bent each main branch down in the direction I want it to grow to. I will be referring to the tiny leaves that were originally on the bottom branches of the plant as the "inside" nodes of the plant from now on because from the first training, I can already notice over 10 different nodes (2 leaves per node because of the symmetrical growth from seed) being fully exposed to light. From the first training, I would say that the average node of the plant increased its amount of surface light by 100%. This method of Scrog i'm using seems great because I can start filling the screen at such a young age. I will throw up the screen once the nodes have grown a few more inches. It's as easy as tying a piece of hemp string around the edges that I already made ledges. I am expecting such nice results from this plant.

As the plant grows, its growth rate increases heavily, so stay tuned! I will put her into flowering in 3 weeks time. Peace

Also....Has anyone else seen this type of scrog? A Colosseum style scrog? That as the plant grows, it makes a cone shape around the light instead of remaining flat on a screen? I have been looking up other scrogs and I have yet to find one... If it is the first time this method is posted on the internet, I would like to call it the "RIU" screen. Thank you.

Those pictures were taking right at the time of training. I will post a few more pics soon to show how she reacts to the change in direction of light. She had one minute PH burn problem in the beggining, but none of the new growth from the past 25 days have shown Ph problems, so she is healthy as ever. The burnt leaf in the background on picture 5 is one of the pH burns from the seedling stage.

IMO no need for Airstone but I get the concept. The reasoning behind not needing it with a larger pump is u are exchanging and fully aerating the rez every thirty minutes or so with an hd air pump. What this does is as the water runs over the hydroton it becomes surface water which is highly aerated hence no need to run an Airstone. But to San his own I'm sure it works great. I just drill a gang of extra drain holes and add high output pump and voila beast mode growth lol.

Your screen method has been done works real well for vert hid grows where your runnin bare bulb. As to effectiveness of Colleen show versus flat with a led panel I don't know yet in sure it will work fine. My opinion is though that your screen may to extreme on the vertical plain IMO I would vary the outer edges no more than six inches higher than the center height for ideal light spread. This is just an opinion though.

Curious to see what ya get numbers wise with that panel. I may go with that or I will be going wih the plantphotronics 140 panel. I like the panel and budbabys gettin 20 Zips or so off of his 280 watt panel I'm inpressed the blackstars work but I think yield to watt draw is a bit low by comparison. I think this is due to using older style led chips. Either way blackstars produce some really nice nug and I am expecting to see over ten ounces off this grow As sleazy just pulled 18 or so off 600 w of draw using two five hundred panels. And he was doin vert soil grow. Your playin with a water farm here and they are no joke lol.

Hey Kaptain, I would totally agree with you if I was using HID. However, with these LEDs, im sure you know about the penetration issues. I am seeing penetration issues right now with my current grow. The bottom branches are considerably less developed than the higher branches. This exists with HIDs as well, but I feel like with these LEDs, the different is bigger. If you saw how I setup my current grow, you would see that the short bushy plants are in the direct middle of the lighting, and the sides are filled with tall colas. This creates much more efficient use for lighting. If the entire canopy was an even level, like a scrog screen, then the corners of the plants would not nearly get as much light as they would if they were raised closer to the light. However, you are totally right about the angle of my screen. It is too high, I wish it would be like 30degrees lower... I will play around with it and get back to you! :)

With that said, I am going to put the jack herrer directly under the 500w blackstar. Its should get plenty of lighting on all sides.
 
I understand what your saying and agree. I think u Khufu misunderstood the direction of my statement. With any setup a slightly raised outer edge onthe screen will help yours is how I would do it if I ran an hid it would be perfect as like u said more penetration. But with yours I would say around 20-30* and would be ideal. To get this angle u may need to use wood for the screen or somthin. Not sure haven't fully thought it through yet. But head the colosseum style scrog is more efficient by comparison to a flat scrog. At the moment I cannot see a way to make a square screen wich is what I need with proper angle so I use a flat scrog and let he outside edges stretch higher works jus as good for me albeit more finicky.

Lol just read hat article. Next we gonna find out that was Grammys harvest from he outdoor season and she was just gettin started inside that four bedroom she occupied all alone for the winter lol wtf fuckin crazy old broad she's my hero too ha ha ha what an awesome lady. Angel indeed.
 
She's what I want to be when I grow up (compared to her, I'm still pretty young!). And she's about as much "angel" as I am LOL

Quick Update. The nodes are growing out very well, and the entire plant looks very organized. Each branch looks the same, like one stalk divided into four. There are two nodes on the far bottom of the plant that I will turn into clones in one week once they develop more. From here on, the plant will grow up.
 
I though I would take this next update to introduce you guys to some of my other friends. The Jack herrer grows a noticeable half inch to inch every day. Also next to the jack herrer that will be a monster is an LSD plant that I got as a clone from a friend, Dman. I vegd her for around three weeks or so, and have trained her well. She was topped when I got her, which is how I like all my girls from now on. I tied each primary node down onto the pot, and topped three heads last night. I promised myself that as long as I have these LEDs, and this 5foot tent, that I will always top all my plants. LSD and Jack Herrer look amazing topped, and they will be going into flowering this thursday. They will probably be the biggest plants I grow in a while. I also have 10 clones in my humidity dome. I took 12, and 9 of them rooted very well. One of them is kind of starting to root, and the other 2 looked like hell so I threw them away. Got one LSD, one Black Girl, and 8 Jack the Rippers. If anyone in the RI area needs any clones, let me know.

I've found that supercroppin produces better results IMO. Try it side by side your topped ones. Or ideally a scrog as it will outperform any other method of growing except for vert bulb colosseum style shelf grow or nft grow like Heath robinsons. Topping works but IMO it just stunts plant growth for a week and shoots four heads. Same stretc no advantage of lower height, hence the scrog or super crop. More bud sites less stress continual growth without slowing. Just my 2cents give it a shot. I know u know how to scrog it's in your title why the switch to topping. Just curious
