Decided to attempt to grow my own medicine. I built a 2 stage grow room in a 4x2x7 closet. The upper chamber is used for Veg and Flower stage, and lower chamber is used for germination and clones. Have a 150 Watt Fluorescent for the lower chamber, and 2 150 HPS lights for upper. Installed an 80 cfm (quiet) exhaust fan in the ceiling that goes to a vent on the roof, and have 2 small wall fans for circulation. I also use a humidifier (very dry here), and a small heater at night to keep the Girls warm during lights out.
Totally cleaned, painted, and sterilized the closet space. Each floor level is covered with hallway runner (Clear plastic in a roll that I purchased at Home Depot), and the upper chamber is fit with a metal pan that is used for catching oil underneath an automobile (Got a 2x4 pan at Wall Mart that fit perfectly. I completely stripped ALL oil and residue from this pan, and this works excellent for catching any spilled water or dirt.)
Got 8 seeds from my daughter, who obtained them from a very experienced grower. Germinated in paper towel, using a closed container to keep humidity high. I used Miracle Grow Moisture control potting soil. At week number 2, I (carefully) sprinkled Blood Meal around each plant. At week number 3, I used Miracle Grow tomato plant food, mixed in water (half indoor strength). At week number 5, I used Miracle Grow tomato plant food, mixed in water (full indoor strength).
I have very hard water where I live, so my pH was high. I use 30 drops, per gallon, of “pH down” to get my 6.0-6.5 reading.
Out of 8 seeds, 7 germinated. I used 6” plastic pots after germination, and then transplanted to 3 gallon Smart Pots. I use the plastic leveling blocks for Travel Trailers to elevate my Smart Pots so that air can circulate underneath the pots. Out of 7 plants, 4 were females. My grow has just finished week number 5. All the plants are healthy and vigorous, and I’ve been Flowering them for a little over 1 week. My closet is becoming crowded, but I think I can manage the plants by rotating them and keeping good air flow.
Pictures shown; Grow Room/Closet; plants at week number 2; plants at week number 3; plants at week number 4; plants at week number 5. Currently, the 2 biggest plants are over 2 feet tall, and all of the plants are showing pistils all over the place!!
