TDS meter solution

So it has come to point where I don't think I can trust the reading on my tds meter. It just seems to be inconsistent as of late. 1 day it will read 400ppm a cpl hours later it will be 600ppm, then another couple hours 500ppm.

It came with a solution packet to calibrate it but I'm curious because the packet is not resealable. How should I store the solution after I open it?

in any air tight container free of contaminants. how much is there? after you use a little bit of solution u should normally throw it out. u can buy bottles of ec/ppm buffer its not expensive. but once calibrated if cleaned properly and stored correctly after use it should stay accurate for a while

you only use the solution once...there is a date stamped on it as to how long its good for as well...

Are you using the ppm meter properly to begin with? When you put nutrients in the solution they have a tendancy to sink at first...so if you take a reading right then it will be a little low...once it has time to mix around a bit and gets evenly distributed you will get a more accurate result. Also moving water can throw off the stability of the test...so if you are taking your readings in a dwc bucket or some other hydro method its best to take a sample out in another container so its not moving around :)

I just started a new grow so I am just testing my tap water. no nutes have been added yet
well you've got settling of sediments, and evaporation of cholorine going on as well...plus do not use that water for growing..its too high PPM wise ;)
