distance between light and plant

well I have been veggin with cfl and flour tubes, i have been keeping them about 2" or so away from the plants and it has been working amazing.

i have 21 plants from seed, so im gonna lose about half of them due to males.
so i will have 10 plants on a 1000 hps i ordered.

i read you should hang a 1000 hps about 4 to 6 feet above the plants. is this correct? casue my ceiling does not go past 6 feet haha. but the height is just a matter of it getting hot on the plants correct? so if i vented the light and room with cold air, and maintaned just above the plants about 75 degreese, then the light can be any distance correct? its all about warmth correct?

At 75 degrees you can go as low as you want to. I have mine 1 or 2 inches from the top of my tallest plant, they love it.As long as the lights footprint still covers all your plants

I agree as well, i have a 400 watt HPS with a Hortilux bulb, and from 5 inches away it can get a bit on the warm side!

Yea, i have a 250w in a cooltube and i can only get like 6in away. It took a while to figure out just how close i can put it. You just have to experiment with it and you will find the sweet spot. I would think that a 1000w would have to be at least 16 inches away from the plants. But i could be wrong.

I keep my 1000 watt open reflectors about 12 inches from the tops.I keep 600 watt lights about 10 inches and 400 watt lights about 6-8 inches from the tops.A 1000 watt light run 24 hours a day a month runs me about $65.

312 they say .5 to 1g a watt that leaves you a little under, if you get it let us know!!!
