Well that's definitely not caramel, lol but it sounds interesting. Perhaps it would pass for a heavily altered caramel.

I've just had an idea. The next time I make fudge or brittle I'm going to lots of popcorn in it. The latter at least should set fast enough to keep it crunchy.

the word amuses me as well. it reminds me of fighting with my mom when i was a kid. she has a really horrible new england accent and when i was a kid my way of "rebelling" was pronouncing everything correctly.

she would say "pup con" and it would drive me nuts. ironically i grew up to have an accent almost as bad as hers
