"We're Trying To Keep Our Voting Rights! Thousands March Against New Voter ID Laws"

whats the difference? your vote doesn,t meen shit anyway! like givin a baby a pacifier, fills the void but, still no milk...peace

To the first, I'd gladly accept a 24% increase in rear end accidents, many of which are fender benders and have minimal to zero injuries, for a 16% reduction in T-bone accidents which are one of the deadliest types of collisions. I've had a few customers over the years killed and injured/maimed in exactly that kind of accident. I also just recently lost my aunt, uncle, cousin and 3 month old niece in a T-bone accident in Utah. Guy ran a red light and wiped them out. The baby held on for 3 days with a severed spinal cord before she passed. So, maybe it's a little personal for me, but the more traffic laws and technological advances that might prevent some idiot from killing my children are fine by me. I don't look at them as an infringement on my rights at all.

the article specifically states that INJURIES from rear ending are up 24%, not accidents, which I would assume are up a shit load more than 24%. So you have a reduction of 16% in t-bones and an increase of 24% in rear ending. which means the red light cameras are possibly causing 8% more injuries, the exact opposite effect the people were told would happen.

I pay over 3000 dollars a year in property taxes. Excuse me if I dont get all weepy if you have to shell out up to $25.00 for a state ID.

So people who can't afford to pay $25 to vote doesn't deserve to have a say in our government because you have more money than they do?

I am saying that people who can provide ID are the only people who should vote.

You are whining that it is not free. Well, citizenship here in the USA isnt free. And soon with Obama care it will be alot less free.

I am truly sorry that you feel your citizenship is worth less than 10 bucks. Maybe it is a good idea if you didnt vote...

Why should someone have to pay more to vote? (which is illegal btw)

I dont think anyone should have to pay anything to vote. I do however think they should be able to buy and own an ID that allows them to vote.

If that costs 10 dollars or 25 dollars I dont have a problem with that.

So someone who can't afford $25 dollars to vote is less deserving of having representation in government than you?

Maybe we should require everyone to get a special voter ID, and then have that ID cost $10,000 dollars. That we you could get all the desired outcomes in an election with out all those stupid poor people who don't deserve to vote anyways.

Or maybe we shouldn't have a poll tax and just let all citizens vote without having to pay for it.

This is still fixing a problem that doesn't actually exist and instead creating a real problem.

I am uncertain but I believe that if you can prove indigence any state will afford you ID for free. OF course you have to manage to GET to the offices which costs money but then you have to get to the polling place which costs money. Of course you can get volunteers to take you to the polling place so... you should be able to get volunteers to take you to the DMV.

Mind you I am not in favor of requiring ID to vote but these are some of the more reasonable arguments I've heard.

How many people in America are not able to scrape together $25.00 over a period of time for an ID?

How bad do you think the poverty situation is in America?

I see people on this site who can't scrape $19 together for a pressure cooker to grow mushrooms.

do they deserve to be disenfranchised because they don't have $19?

I am willing to bet the number of people participating in voter fraud by not having to show ID at the ballot box exceeds the number of people in America that are too poor to afford an ID.

Just a hunch.

you did not answer the question, speedy gonzalez.

I am willing to bet that the number of people commiting voter fraud by multiple or ineligability votes is inconsequential compared to those who will be disenfranchised if they need id to vote. I am further willing to bet that the ones who profit from that disenfranchisement will almost always be Repbulicans.

Just a hunch

True.. because most felons are Democrats....

HA! You set that one up too easy...

Incorrect. Some states have that, but not all. And the states that do have that make it extremely difficult in order to discourage people of doing this.

Mind you I am not in favor of requiring ID to vote but these are some of the more reasonable arguments I've heard.

If this is really about voter fraud (which it's not), then why not just have it all based on a fingerprint system. Everyone has a unique fingerprint. It wouldn't cost anything.

Also, why are some government issued picture ID's like college ID's not permitted but gun permits are an exceptible form of ID? It's because this is about stopping democrats from voting.

It's bad enough to where some people have to choose between rent and food. You really think someone who's already choosing between rent and food should have to pay a $25 dollar poll tax in order to vote? That's unreasonable. The constitution says all men are created equal. That makes them all equally deserving of a vote. This takes their vote away from them.

Also many seniors who are active voters live on a fixed income. Every dollar counts for a lot of Americans. Asking them to pay to vote to fix a fictitious problem is criminal IMO.
