Coco Growers Unite!

Thought I would share some changes i made to my grow room. I ended up downsizing the room from a 9x6x8 to a 3.5x6x8. I really didn't want to downsize but this time around i wanted to make my space a little more of a secret.
Still have to finish the trim and get it painted but i think it came out really cool. The last pic is a intake fan mounted through a cabinet. Ill be putting doors on the cabinet and drilling some holes on the bottom of the cabinet to help with airflow.
What do you think?

Sour Kush AKA Headband In a 3 gal pot 50/50 canna coco and perlite
Grown from seed.
Two of her clones in one gal pots. There at there third node may go ahead and flower them along with the big girl.
LST
Veg T5s
Just put them under 600 hps 3 days ago and just kicked on the other 600 a few hours ago..
1 tbs calmag
7 ml of Canna A/B
Tad of suerthrive
I add malaise every once in awhile and will use it during my flush

nice job pound! Thats what I like to see a big ol bush of Chiesel! I'm betting that's at what week 6 1/2? We definatly have similar phenos. In my post, pictures 4,5 and 6 are of my Chiesel. She went 9 weeks 4 days. With my pheno the caylaxes swell back, turn purple and then the tips turn yellow when she's good and ripe.

i gotta say, im a convert from dwc to coco (canna coco, and its accompanying nutes), and i gotta say. i aint ever lookin back!!! although this morning i had a little scare...my dehumidifier blew a circuit and my girls were left in the dark and cold for a few hours into its light schedule. they wilted a little, but they're perkin right back up. 8 violator kush 3 weeks in 12/12 under 2k.....

Im sure deep in these 282 pages of replies someone discusses their nute regime but can someone save me some time. Ive never grown in coco but heard its great. Id like to stay as organic as possible. Ive been looking into Botanicares nutes. The Pure Blend Pro line sounds good but Im not sure which one would be best for coco. Chances are I will be going 12/12 from seed or at least a very short veg time. Any advice? Id like to keep it as simple as possible. Thanks

Hey wow what a thread, That massive single plant under the one HID with all the colas, is that the result of a fim? thats alot of bud for one plant. Im gunna be running a setup with a similar amount of light per plant, Im planning to top once for 4 colas, so hopefully they will be packed! Im growing in coco but its not "Canna" coco, its botanicares cocoGro, anyonge used that? Im also not using canna nutes, Ill be using House and Garden Cocos A+B. has anyone got experience with that line? Seems everyone is all up on the Canna line, so I'm really hoping I'm not missing out here with what I have(just bought the best stuff of what I could find at my hydro store). I am giving them the most love in every way possible, just not sure how my good my coco/nutes are. at any rate we shall see how she does in about 4 months time!

Using House and Garden Cocos A+B with Canna Coir and I love it. I didn't read their nute calculator (on their site) during flower so ended up using Top Booster for way too many weeks, too early. Did a flush, all OK now. They have someone answering questions on their site which is pretty useful if you read the column. I think the author told someone, though, that you don't have to flush H&G at all- strange as I can't find anyone to agree with that. They just added an Amino Treatment and Multi-Zen- didn't use these but will in next cycle.

I asked their rep why they recommend using basically the same levels of A&B nutes throughout both grow and veg when plants need less nitro in flower and he replied that, "Some guys reduce Part A in Flower." Not very helpful- reduce by how much? Also, that's gonna get expensive as my hydro store requires both A&B be bought at the same time...Anyway, haven't heard that elsewhere.

Also, I use Botanicare's CalMag (sparingly) and Great White (which their rep says is great with Cocos) and stay away from Hygozyme as they say it throws off the Ph.

Yea so far its doing really good for me, and Ive done some searches and found that it does have a pretty good reputation in some places. As for cocogro goes, I think its fine, I havent seen Canna to compare but I dont think I need to have a whole grow done in the medium to know if its any good. I reckon it is good because Its very springy and airy and drains well but it holds onto tons of moisture. Next time around I might mix some perlite in at around 20% just to boost that airation and use larger pots to compensate for the reduced water retention.

Sounds like you got a pretty vague answer and Ive been wondering the same exact thing. Im sure your going to get a decent result just following their schedule exactly but it seems you could do a bit better. You said using a bit less A during flower would get pricey but consider this option. You use double the A than the B during Vegg. and then During flower you use Double the B than A. I did the math and it looks like it gets you a little closer to the ideal NPK for cannabis. Youll still run out of B alot faster because your plants wll be larger and most people dont vegg as long as they flower. In theory that should work really nicely except that the bottle doesnt tell you what micro nutrients are in each bottle, so you may be unknowingly cutting your plant off from certain nutrients when you use a different ratio of A and B. Im trying it right now with a test on 5 of my 10 plants. plants 1-5 get A2/3 B1/3 and plants 6-10 get equal parst A and B. Ill keep an eye on the results. I will have to run the same sort of test(in reverse) in flowering again and see how that does. Does Canna's coco nutes work the same with a veg/flower AB formula?

I don't know about you but my runs don't track the nute calculator- they are much longer...the calculator seems like it's for Perfect Conditions. My room runs cold... perhaps that extends things. You may be right about cutting them short in the other additives, too. But with the new Amino and Zen products they are selling for veg, they probably don't have too many other additives in A and B- make more money selling the stuff separately. (?!)

Think about adding perlite...it's so airy now and dries out so fast! Might be good tho if perlite retains water but doesn't that defeat the oxygen-advantage to coir in the first place?

If you haven't transplanted yet, consider Geopots- I love them. But not the old black Smart Pots. I was given some with handles that are junk.
One issue I had was with lockout (before I corrected my calmag.) Just did a flush with Epsom salts and 5.8 water. Just fine now.
Don't know about other nutes but I'm flushing now and the run-off is 6.0. I'd think that's pretty great...need to see if that's good news.

I didnt flush the botanicare CocoGro and I checked the Ph of my runnoff and for the first couple waterings it was insane, the first time I checked it was at 4.1Ph. So I guess I should be flushing before using this stuff. but my plants survived at anyrate and I didnt do a flush to it. I just water to waste every watering. I thought perlite was even more airy and less water renensive than coco? My idea is to have a pot that is so damn big that even with perlite in the coco it wont dry out too fast. Im thinking 5 gallons ought to take a while to dry no matter how airy the medium is. Not for this grow though, just gunna go straight coco right through.
The A+B should have all the trace minerals that the plant needs to survive. You should be able to grow a good plant using their AB base nutrients in Ph'd water and not add anything else and your plants will not have any deficiencies. Of course Im using a few other products to give my plants a boost, such as root excelerator and humic and fulvic acid. but in theory I could grow without using these. I dont know anything about the HG Amino or Zen, but Im going to guess they are stupidly expensive.

Im going to be using airpots as soon as I transplant, I have the 3 gallon size. with airpots/coco I should have some really nice roots Im hoping.


Your not likely to match up to the nute schedule unless you are growing an 8 week flowering strain(usually 8 weeks is the example), and vegging for the same amount of time that is shown in the schedule(3 weeks is usually what they give examples for). But you can just use the same numbers by stretching it out, so week 6 for example matches to week 9 in a 12 week flowering strain.

so far its day 3 in my experiment and no results yet, all the plants look pretty much the same. I will be sure to stop in and let everyone know If I find anything bad/good happening with my experiment plants. Im sure alot of people have considered doing this but didnt want to sacrafice their plants. plus mixing nutes takes double the work

I used House and Gardens Cocos and their entire line in a top feed recirculating even though they say to use Aqua Flakes in recirculating mine worked fine. House and Garden is a really good product so is Canna both kick ass.
