Miracle Gro and Flushing

OF my first grow I went the easy way with Miracle gro so I could focus on dialing in my grow space. The Girls are happy and just starting into flower (1 week).

I have been learning (Thanks RIU) and I 'm wondering what to do about flushing. With MG having nutes in it already, is it ok to flush? If I got things down, I should flush at least once during the flower stage and before harvest?

I picked up some Pro Bloom 1-4-5, is this save to use with the MG, or should I save it for the next grow? The girls are seem happy right now and the first rule I got from RIU was not to f**k with them too much.

You just want to water as normal, using a volume of water equal to the pot with mg soil. You never want to flush unless you have absolutely no other recourse of action to solve a problem. Wait and see at the end of 14 days of flower to see if how they look, and then use the Pro-Bloom at 1/4 strength to see how they respond.

I find that MG soil lasts for about 3-5 weeks and usually runs out of nitrogen first. Hope this helps.

Mg soil is ok at best . im using it for my first grow. the biggest thing i can see with the stuff is to .you really need to watch closely for what the plant is doing ,as there is a greater risk of nute burning . Im at 4 1/2 weeks flowering now . i did a small flush when i switched to flowering nutes . i say its ok to flush. i did it with no ill effects . But i also heavily watered ,only when soil was very dry..
im no expert and only stating what i did . maybe more advance growers will chime in .
this is just some bagseed so i was really only looking the learning exp..

Sounds like you are on the right track. When I say flush, I mean when you water with 2-3 times the volume of the container. This is intended to leech out the salts in the soil along with anything else.

What are the symptoms for lack of N?

So about 6 weeks into a MG grow, nutes are starting to fall off, flush and 1/4 strength 1-4-5, every 3 watering? (watering every 4 days, 3gal pots, 2 .5 qts) increase if the girls like it.

MG is good for veg, terrible for flowering(although I have yet to hear results with their 2 organic potting soils). If you don't flush, your bud will sound like Rice Crispy...snap, crackle, pop, and it will taste just like MG soil.

Go organic dude.

Nitrogen is nitrogen once it's in the plant as is phosphorous, as is zinc, etc whether it be Advanced Nurtrients, Miracle Grow or bat shit. How will organic help at all?

True, but by that measure you can say the same of any soil company. Do you have any fact or is this just conjecture based upon your dislike of MG?

What is the ingredient list on the bag itself?...it isn't on their website. Organic is a very loose term, that was my only question.

Here's I'll research it for you:

Here's a copy of the bag, ingredients are at the bottom left. According to them they are certified by the state of California as Organic.

Now, I'll agree that "organic" is a loose term, but again that is conjecture based upon dislike of a company and their product, not fact.

I cannot read the bottom portion of the back label, even with a magnifying glass...but it looks like mostly humus and peat...which is cheaper at any local garden center.

I use miracle grow and never noticed many of the things I hear people complain about . Other types of soil like FF would cost over $50.00 a bag to get where I am . I only flush if absolutely necessary .
