Keeping my son from drinking.

Wow, really? Those are some seriously sad statistics.

That's what happens when you're surrounded by Reservations and alcohol isn't allowed. So they have to drive to the nearest town, get drunk and then drive home. Every weekend we would hear the fire sirens go off and we'd start calling family members to make sure everyone was accounted for. I've lost friends, family members, coworkers and school mates to alcohol related accidents.

Yep. It's not so bad now. The alcoholism problem on the reservations is finally being addressed. They have programs that follow a native american format rather than the 12 step program and it's working.

Don't take away my booze, I take cabs. I know i get annoying on here some times when I'm drunk but deal with it.

i am 27 i was an alcoholic and drank a bottle of vodka most days and had a list of problems as long as your arm, i started smoking weed and after a year of smoking it and learning more about cannabis i was growing it and i have totally changed my life around, am not one of these guys who was an alcoholic and can never take a beer again the cannabis changed my way of thinking and i can have a beer now without wanting anymore and the idea of being drunk again would be a nightmare for me as i look back on my lifestyle and think that wasent me that was some other guy. i have no doubt whatsoever that cannabis has saved my life i am a much much better person now so i think you done the right thing with your son

This is so similar to my story its not funny. Drinking almost ruined my life but it was actually through my parents understanding and compassion that I got past it. Ultimately your kid is going to make his own decisions, but if you did it right he'll make the right ones. And if he makes the wrong being there for him is all you can do. Dunno if that helps at all.

alcohol can destroy anyone if you dont understand and respect it. its hard for me now to watch family members getting drunk that i used to drink with everyday, it makes me sad that they cant see it like i now can, i really believe that somehow cannabis has changed my brain chemistry, i care about things and the planet alot more now and i feel like i have evolved as a human being as a direct result of cannabis, before taking cannabis i was in a really bad place ive even lost about 5 stone weight my body just seems to be in harmony now i dont even get the flu or colds anymore!
