It looks like the seed casing or the membrane that is inside of it has dried and is holding the cotyledons together. You can take and dip your finger in water, touch a drop of water or two to get it wet, let it sit for a few minutes, then gently pull off the casing. Happy growing and good luck.

this happens when the stuff inside the seed got too dry and hasnt fallen off the cotyledons and has fused them together. Ive force these off before with a pin but it did seem to slightly slow down growth due to damage. I even cut the cotyledons off by accidentally stabbing the stem with the pin. . Spraying and high humidity will help it get rid of it naturally. Just dont choke the seedlings for long because they will fall over and die without air. From now on plant a little lower in the soil. Worked for me since my incident. The dirt helps keep it moist and it can kick it off on its own. By the time it reaches the surface its ready to receive light and grow. Adds less than a day to the time from sow to seedling.

So if i just 'MIST' the seedling and keep the crib nice and humid it should do it natrually yeah?

is there any videos i can learn how to seperate the leaves in this scenario? dont want to kill them they are my last seeds :(

This is easy. If this is your first time grow, put on some sterilized gloves,(You never want to touch seedlings) Then lightly pull the seed casing off the plant. It should come off with no force at all. If you attempt to pull it off, and it doesn't just come off easily, then i would suggest misting the seedling so the shell absorbs the moisture and makes it easier to pull off. Good luck. Btw, this is just a seedling, it doesn't even look a week old. If you are really concerned, just leave it on. The leaves that are stuck inside the seed casing will eventually get strong enough and break out of the seed casing.

I use tweezers to free mine. You have to be real careful and patient if you do that. Wetting the tops first like smoochie said makes sense.

There are fundamental differences, yet they are kinda the same, and the paper towel method is not the choice for cannabis or most any seed as far as that matters. In a pinch though the above advice applies.....

It has broken out of the seed casing yesterday and looks the same today; there is no seed 'SHELL' on them at this stage.. it just looks like the casings dropped off.. and the leaves never opened up.

I can't really see in the photo, but what may be there is this really thin almost invisible membrane (especially when dry) that lines the interior of the shell. Sometimes this stays on the seedling and shrink wraps it. When you pull it off you can't believe you missed it, it blends in so well. Good luck!

As Smoochie stated, the casing that everyone is referring to is a membrane which is the inner layer of the seed casing which surrounds the inner part of the actual seed and protects it! I have pulled off several with my finger tips and have never had an issue. If you are worried though, you may want to grab a tooth pick and give it a spray and let it sit for a few minutes before attempting to remove it. Just make sure you are gentile and delicate!

I wouldn't wait much longer, as your stems seem to be getting long trying to find some light!
