You can at least let sick people have marijuana because it’s helpful. But the compassionate conservatives say, well we can’t do this, we’re going to put people who are sick and dying with cancer and are being helped with marijuana if they have multiple sclerosis — the federal government is going in there and overriding state laws and putting people like that in prison.

I think the federal war on drugs is a total failure. The drug war is out of control. I fear the drug war, because it undermines our civil liberties, it magnifies our problems on the borders — we spent like over the last 40 years a trillion dollars on this war and, believe me, the kids can still get the drugs. It just hasn’t worked.

In the last 30 years, we have spent hundreds of billions of dollars on a failed war on drugs. This war has been used as an excuse to attack our liberties and privacy. It has been an excuse to undermine our financial privacy while promoting illegal searches and seizures with many innocent people losing their lives and property. Seizure and forfeiture have harmed a great number of innocent American citizens.

I think anyone being pro marijuana legalization is the right reason no matter what because we are talking about peoples lives here. People go to jail for this shit, sometimes for a long time. Lives are ruined because of criminal records. Terminally ill are forced to suffer through the end of their lives when there is a natural plant that can make things much better.

The issue of marijuana is very real to the people of America and needs to be treated as such.

As a fellow libertarian I do understand where you are coming from, but it needs to be expressed that no matter your political ideology, marijuana prohibition is extremely damaging to the people of this country.

Hey man I support Paul (as much as I can as a Paddy ), but under his system there never would've been prohibition in the first place cos for as long as he's been in Congress he's been against telling people how to live their lives. He's not pro-pot or against it, he just thinks it's a non-issue cos what he really believes in is the real reason to vote for him...FREEDOM!! (cue Mel Gibson ALA Braveheart).

it says the Attorney General may choose exclude any substance.. it just has to be stimulant-free, depressant-free, and non-hallucinogenic, and not identified as a narcotic.....and who identifies drugs as narcotics? the FDA and DEA... .... good luck getting weed to fall into that category.....

Also the DEA was formed under Executive Order...it can be unformed just as quickly.
