"nice" is not a unit of measurement I'm too familiar with . 150w probably couldn't do 3 plants of any considerable size. If u use a hood it tends to make kind of a rectangular footprint, but I would still think maybe 2 lights to fill the space. I personally would prob do 2x 250+ but I def overkill with the lights. I personally use a 1k watt in a 4x6 room, and can't cover the entire footprint well IMO. would recommend something in at least the 200w range and prob put it on a mover to cover the span, if not 2 separate lights. Depending on your height maybe vertical would be an option with a bulb In the middle. I don't think anything under 600 would be a waste In the space.
1 plant per 100w of light. that is what i do with very good results, but it is not an absolute science. 12 plants under 2 x 600w lamps with sealed hoods.
you would be better with 2 x 150w lamps although i would go with one 400w for the 3 plants and add an extra one making 4 plants total.
3 plants under a 150w will take about a year to grow.
2 250w. 150 thats 15w per sq. ft. not nearly enough. 5 ft is a long spread, my 600w doesn't do that. and a 1000w is a bit overkill for that so you need 2 lights, a mover, or a 4ft 8 tube t5 HO

either 2 250's or 1 600. the advantage to 2 250's is the far corners of the space will get good direct light where with a 600 the far ends wont get nearly as much as the middle.
Some high quality reflective material will do alot of good. Nothing wrong with a little overkill on the lights so long as you can control the temperature
