dude eriously, invest in a 250w hps, find a wardrobe and use tht shit coz ya aint gonnae yield anything to make it worth the time of vegging then flowering under 1 cfl. your kidding yourself on if you think you are gonna make any money off it lol. not tryna be rude but when you read your last box was too small what in the hell made ya make another box slightly bigger?

Its a super budget ghetto stylee box.. There's a saying that goes 'You only get out - what you put in' and that stands true with most things, on the positive side ur already aware 'Tin-foil' is a no no...so I am surprised you bothered with it. However, despite the slightly bigger box, That CFL fixture is huge ~ (for a single low-Watt CFL)!! ..and so I'd expect a Micro sized dwarf plant is how it'll go. You could put a small SCROG screen in there which will allow you to obtain a fair bit of extra 'Bud' gain, But I'd wanna sort out Mylar/Orca for the reflective surfacing 1st, then I'd replace that shoddy CFL setup you have in exchange for a single ENVIROLITE 125W CFL which will not only save you space, (if hung horizontally) But also give a much better PAR/Usable light output, & also not give off as much heat as say a small HID setup ie: 35W, 70W 150W ... I think a 250W Son-T HPS would be overkill for the box you have .. I take it your fine with smell etc.. only I dont see a Carbon Filter?!! and even if there was one I am pretty sure the smell would still leak out!

Still its your grow and I am interested to see this Ghetto-Grow get on the way.. Please keep adding pics I hope my helpful criticism was helpful as intended and you didn't/don't feel I was rippin on you.. Its funny though, loads of people start out like this or in a very similar way (inc me) and slowly after each Harvest improvements are made and slowly the small box turns into a good sized Grow-Room or Cab.. But everything in this box is what i had at hand with out going out in the store and spending money on things especially for this grow. The tin foil was all o had.. Ill go to the store and buy some of that mylar soon. and for the light: you think this is too big or not enough? i do get the idea of hanging it horizontally, but how can i adjust the height of the light if its hung horizontally? or do you think i should just leave it at this high the entire grow, considering the size of the box?

dude that is way too small, my 5 week old lowryders are 16" and 27" plus cardboard aint a very good mix with water/heat/electricity, i agree with stonemalone convert a wardrobe or chest of draws paint the inside white and stick a small hps in otherwise you will end up wasting the next month and when she outgrows the box she'll have nowhere to go. hope this helps

well maybe i can just veg int his box and see how big this plant actually grows? and then ill build another one or convert some wardrobe as you guys are saying and start flowering in that.. does that sound okay?

ah and one more question for everyone:

i chose the CFL's because people were saying good things about them on the grow sites I've been reading.
But then again, they were saying good things about other lights too, such as those hpl light or whatever.. I just don't know which one to choose! I didn't know the type of light affected the plant growth this much.. all i thought it needed was heat and light, and don't all lights give that off? Looks like ill have to do some more reading..

The Tin-Foil wont do any harm with the small cfl thats in there at the mo.. But as soon as you put a better/Bigger/Higher wattage bulb in there it will start to be a problem as it conducts heat (holds heat in) ...as far as the light you have goes.. The actual fixture is way way to big and I cant really see why its needed, I mean you can put those small CFL's in normal light sockets that hang from the ceiling, and they are much much smaller.. The bulb you have in there is NOT enough (even for your size box) .. People generally put 3 or 4 of those bulbs in PC Cases.. or a 125W CFL..Your box despite its Ghetto-ness is way bigger than a PC case so it makes sense to add a bigger lamp.

HID is prob a bad way to go in this box, as someone else pointed out.. Heat,Cardboard, Moisture etc... its not a good mix and it'd be a fire hazard to say the least.. which is why I'd say you should go with a 125w CFL.... or even a 150W CFL (if you can find one) ~ 150's are kinda hard to get round these parts.

You could either make a reflector out of a Used Beer Can... Cut the ends off with 'Tin-Snips' and cut down the middle after a bit of bending here and there you'll have made a Ghetto-Reflector! .. You then would need to fix the CFL to it horizontally use a Can sized piece of wood and attach it to the top of the can then just use a clip or a some cable ties to hold the lamp (socket) in place.. You can then attach small curtain loops to the top of ur DIY reflector and hang the thing at the height of your choice, this will allow you to use alot more of the virt space you have!

Keep in mind if you go with a 125w/150w CFL the Beer-Can Reflector wont cut it and you'll need to find a bigger DIY reflector... I once used a curry-dish from '£1land' and modified that to reflect an 80W CFL and that worked fine...

I would say its fine to skimp on most things but I'd defo. find the dollers to grab a bigger light as this is what'll give you the bud... any CFL rated at under 125W will no doubt only reward your efforts with Fluffy lite airy buds.. but at least with a 125W you can still get nice nugs..

I'd say get rid of the Tin-Foil & replace with Mylar, get a bigger CFL ie/ 125 or 150 and throw in a SCROG screen for good measure and you'll be doing alot better and the bud will be alot nicer..&..there'll be more of it..

im afraid it aint gonna work, even with lst'ing you will still struggle to keep the plant small enough to fit in the box and 1cfl hanging like that above it wont do much, better the side of the bulb hitting the plant and it has to be around 1 or 2" away due to the small lumens output on them. get yourself some 2x4 wood and some sheets of plywood and build yourself a bigger wooden box , might not be the best but its a damn sight better than using a tiny cardboard box lol. shit ive bought boxes of crisps bigger than that

well since this, I've actually bin thinking about using like a 4 foot+ storage bin, how does that sound? like one of the ones people usually turn into a hydroponics systems, you know? ill get that and go get some mylar, and ill buy another y splitter and hang 4 23 watt cfls in there horizontally and maybe put 2 exhaust fans
How does that sound? If any of you say that is a shit idea that i guess Ill have to check out my local craigslist and get my hands on some free plywood!
The only problem that would cause though is the space, guys! I have only a tiny ass closet, where I'd put the grow box behind my clothes, out of sight. With these boxes that you guys are talking about building, I think it would be sticking out and in view! plus the sounds of the fans etc people wil think I'm building a fucking time machine in my closet.

Why can't i use the storage bin? its big, light proof, and with mylar it would be reflective.. i can drill holes for the vents, lights etc. It sounds perfect!

and i can't do the closet idea right now : My closet at the moment doesn't even have a door!
