When to sex...

Ok folks... In my first posting I was a bit concerned about my babies making it and received some great feedback telling me to hang in there, so thanks for that!

It's now the 3rd of April, and I'm VERY encouraged by my little children. Here's my question. When should I sex them to find out which are ladies worth keeping and which are boys to be sacrificed to the Great Smoke Gods?

I'm including some pics from the time of my first posting and pics I just took a few minutes ago to contrast and compare.

If the plants in question are those in your gallery, it's too soon to worry about sex. Some growers will clone for sex using a cutting from the plant in question. It's advisable to wait until the plant is large enough so that one cutting will not be noticeable.

No, the pics in my gallery were from a while back. I've been trying to attach the pics i took today to my posting, but it won't work for some reason.

Ok, since I can't get the photo to attach to the posting, I just put a pic in my gallery.

I know it's kinda tall and "spindly" and that's cuz I initially had too little light, so it stretched a bit. I've since changed my lighting and it's really taken off.

My question is this: Is it big enough to sex to see what it is? If it turns out to be female, can I put it back on 24 hour light? Would that screw it up? Or should I just wait longer?

if you want to know which are female so you can take clones, I recommend you take several clones from all your plants and carefully label them. Then you flower when you are ready and destroy the male plants and the male clones (unless you want pollen) after they show sex.

Oh God No! The last thing I need at the moment is more plants. LOL!! I had more seeds "take" than I hoped for. Side effect of being a newbie. :?

I guess I mostly want to know what sex that one is because it's the biggest one so far and I kinda want to know whether it's a keeper or not.

I understand and sympathize with your curiosity but wouldn't mess with them. - if this hobby teaches nothing else - it teaches patience. :joint:
