This is my first grow and I my plants were looking great until I went out of town and the person caring for them didnt do so hot. The plants are now turning brown on the edges! I am not sure whats up. I have tried for 2-3 weeks to get them back to normal and cannot.
I am in 3 gallon buckets, ready grow soiless medium (1/2 moisture control, 1/2 regular). I have rocks at the bottom along with some hydroton about 2-3 inches at bottom to increase drainage and prevent root rot. Each bucket has 4 large 1/2 inch drain holes at the bottom. I also leave 2" on top and cover the mix with about another 1/2" of hydroton on top to help with water distribution and ensure no dry pockets in the soil.
I used a 1000W MH in a 4X4 tent with 12 plants under (my legal amount in my state). I have plenty of ventilation and I keep my tent at a consistent 70-73 degrees. Humidity pretty much stays at about 23%. When I switch to flower, I will change to the HPS bulb. I have a carbon filter and two three inline fans that bring stale air out and fresh air in as well. I also have a 20" fan that moves air around at all times.
I water every three-four days and only once every other water do I use nutes. I give about 32oz of water per plant. I use GO line nutes; Biozyme, Cal Mag right now during veg, which are 100% organic. I have tried increasing nutes in some and decreasing in others to see if it made a difference and has not. I check my pH and ensure I am 6.4 before watering. I also check the PH of the soil it is generally around 6 or 7. I use a reservoir in which I let me water sit for at least 72 hours before using it for water.. most has is there for over 5 days at a time. I do not use RO right now. My soil moisture meter show moist to wet at most times.
Even the new clones that I got from another person that were very nice and green are starting to do the same thing on the lower leaves.
Still in veg, but ready to start flowering the coming weeks... Also please disregard the mite marks on the leaves, I know I had a mite issue when I returned and used mighty wash and a veg fogger to clear them out... that seemed to take care of the mites and didn't seem to impact the plants.
I want to get this under control before I flip these to flower which I want to do soon, they are getting big
I also notice that with the 32 oz amount of water, I do not get any run off in the bottom. I was hoping for 10% and think this is my issue??? Thinking my soil is holding too much moisture? Should I drill more drainage holes? Can I somehow add more drainage to the soil? Like Can I pull out of the buckets and add some coarse perlite to the mix and then replant or will that kill them at this stage? Any other ideas of what this is?
Like I said, first grow ever, so PLEASE HELP
