Fucking Clones

I can grow any strain of pot known to man, but cannot clone into soil.

WTF?, cut underwater at an angle...dip in rooting powder...place cutting into pre-made hole in soil...water...put under humidity dome for a day or 2....remove....then treat as you would a seedling.

This isn't rocket science. I'm using the same medium I use successfully for everything else.

Why do they keep dying after 3-5 days?.

Any time I've cloned it's been in the dome for a lot longer than two days. Usually 1 week, sometimes two before I harden them off. I'd suggest leaving them in the dome till you see the first signs of growth, then harden them off.

You're letting them dry out.. keep the soil moist, spray the soil with water when the top dries.

And yes they take atleast a week to root before new growth. Keep them alive and the soil moist and in 10 - 16 days you'll see new growth.

usually take 1-2 weeks to root, sometimes more to poke out of the rockwool cubes.

maybe you should try some clone cubes(rockwool, rapidrooters)

i leave mine in the dome the whole way through

I tried this. left 2 sannie herijuana clones wet/temp controlled etc for a week...and they finally drooped and stayed that way. When I tossed them, there was not one root on the stem.

I did that as well, had fan circulation...they were babied...cracked the dome lid etc.

Hmm, might be the rooting powder.

Or should I just simply be more patient?.

i second what others have said about the dome. i am not the best guy at cloning, but i manage an 80% or more success rate, sometimes going 100% on a batch if i get lucky.

i start cracking the dome for an hour or two after 3 or 4 days, then two or three hours the next day, then 5 or 6 hours, and so on and so on.

also, i use perlite as a medium. people say you can go straight into soil, but my best results have always come from using perlite alone.

best of luck!

That's pretty much the same method as me, minus the perlite. If I'm growing in soil the clones will go into a peat pellet to root first though and a rockwool cube if it's going to hydro. I've done it straight to soil as well but I preferred to make sure that the clone had rooted before planting.

Cool mist humidifier. Get the childrens one at target.looks like an elephant.mist comes out the affable animals trunk.slip a vinyl 3/4in hose on it and run it through a hole cut in your clone box(mines a regular clear tupperware),turn on till a fog comes out then turn the stream back halfway to where it looks like smoke rolling off a half lit joint. Get the rubber dirt plugs, cut, dip, insert, drop in the box, wait 1-1/2 to 2 weeks.i get 100%,minus a runt here and there, but even the runt can manage.the fog keeps the rubber dirt plugs at a perfect moisture level, and it waters cut through foiliage.thats my old method,my 7day factory method is to go to ebay, look up "64 site cloner"..its awesome, and at $150, compared to namebrand $600 cloners, its the best bang for your buck.and for trollers,no im not the guy selling on ebay, but ill be a spokesperson for him anyday!Hope this helps.

Oh,forgot to add,if u get cloner (they come in different sizes) use r.o. water and for 4gals in my cloner i add 25ml of botanicares calmag...roots look like dreadlocks after 10days..

Hm, you should try rooting in water, then transplant to soil. That's my method and that way you can see if there's roots without having to even touch them. And it works great!

i never had the best ratio in soil / peat pucks either..some would make it soem would die...with the bubble cloner i get about 95% turn around rate...ive lost a few to high temps

ill never clone in meduim again

Hi all,

Thanks for all the responses.

If I may ask one more question. Is drooping a normal thing under a dome?.

mine don't droop at all, unless the perlite dries out after a couple weeks. but that's wilting, not drooping.

I shouldn't have to spend the $$. Yeah I know I'm being arrogant in a sense...but eventually I'll figure it out.
