Lincolns Republican party in no way resembles the present day GOP
Nor does today's Democratic Party in any way resemble a fiscally responsible, JFK led party of the 60's. A democrat from that era would be considered a nazi by the current administration.
It is a terrible shame that both major parties are simply two heads on an authoritarian beast determined to destroy what once made America a glorious place.
yeah, we should move to syria in protest of what a shithole this nation has become.
Reagan voted for FDR 4 times
Just outta interest, as you are a proud Republican but don't support Ron Paul...which of those other (potentially) mildly retarded POS idiot candidates do you support?GOP has submitted 30 jobs bills and a budget to the senate where King Harry Reid is sitting on them.
I wish you would get a clue what is really going on and stop with the partisan bullshit.

You don't ever really say, I just wonder so I can get some better context from your posts. Mittens? Newt? ... Santorum? (God forbid...no pun intended).
I'm not sure you understood my quote, maybe this one will put a finer point on it..." I didn't leave the Democratic Party, the party left me" -Ronald Reagan (Reagan voted for FDR 4 times)
Yes, I am quite aware that Reagan was a Neocon.
"I now have absolute proof that smoking even one marijuana cigarette is equal in brain damage to being on Bikini Island during an H-bomb blast." ~Ronald Reagan.
next...
That's racist... On a more serious note. You bring up an interesting point. It seems that these: "I'll vote for Ron Paul no matter what people" have a fundamental misunderstanding of what that will cause. Think what the "only vote for Nader" crowd did to Al Gore vs Bush. Your vote for Ron Paul actually helps Obama, and almost all Ron Paul supporters are very open about how much they despise Obama. I couldn't careless really... my vote has gone the way of a third party whenever I've decided to vote. I'm well aware that who I vote for isn't going to get elected, but the Ron Paulistas don't seem to understand that they're actually helping Obama out. Kind of funny to me.
Speaking as a Ron Paul supporter, I don't care what my vote might do to any other candidate. From a tactical point of view, what I care about is policy. If Newt/Romney/Santorum would implement the policies I favor (less war, more freedom, end the drug war, treat the public treasury responsibly) then I would happily vote for any of them, same goes for Obama.
If the independent vote costs the Republicans the presidency and throws it to Obama, then they have only themselves to blame for not accomodating the independent voter's wishes. The Repubs seem to believe that they own the libertarian vote under the, "when it comes down to the actual election the libertarians will vote R to prevent Obama from a second term", i.e. exactly the scenario you spell out.
The way I see it, it's time for the Republicans to kiss my ass if they want my vote (enact the policies spelled out above), not the other way around. This approach is the real power behind Ron Paul's campaign.
In other words, there is no cult around Ron Paul. He simply embraces the policies I want to see put in place, and nobody else running in the R or D sphere does. In terms of pure personal preference, I would rather vote for Gary Johnson than Paul because Johnson is younger and more vigorous, and if RP does not get the R nomination then that is exactly what I plan to do: vote for Gary Johnson on the Libertarian ticket. If that throws the election to Obama, then I will be satisfied that I accomplished two things:
1. I voted for a decent person who values the American ideals of freedom and independence.
2. It says to the Republican establishment, "if you want to regain the presidency, then you need to quit being such neocon dickheads.
So, you see, Mccucumber, I have no misunderstanding at all.
+rep to you my friend.

Here are all of them listed below.
