4x Speed Devil 2 from sweet seeds.

set includes 5inch in/out fans and 5m of ducting and some jubili clips. also included 4inch carbon filter.
i plan to put the germinated seeds in 2sq inches of rockwool and when the roots show i will transfer strait into the wilma pots.
i plan to make a 1x1m square frame and nail or staple on a 1x1m sheet of chicken fence.
i will place the screen 10inches above the medium and once the plants reach 10inches i will start to train the branches to fill
as much of the screen as i can before they go into flower.
i dont plan on topping them as i hear that topping autos is pretty sucky. so ill just gently bend the tops out and let the rest catch up.
i plan on pruning as little as possible.
im planning on using the 600w hps all the way thru.
21-3 once sprouts appear up untill each plant has atleast 5 stems poking thru the screen then,
15-9 till finish.
will allow 2-3 day dark period before chopping.
any advise apart from that autos arent good for scrog? as i have already read alot of mixed testimonials.
i may consider lowering the screen hight to 7inches...
will post picks once the set arrives. ive started germing the 4 seeds now in a tissue lined plastic tub soaked with water then let drain away till no more drops but i did not squeeze the tissue. in a dark drawer with 1x1ft reptile heatmatin the drawer above heating the underside of the seed drawer nicely. odered the 4 pot wilma dripper this morning so it will be here on tuesday-wednesday (3-4 days).
the tent set i will order in on monday so that will arrive thursday.
seeds will obviously have sprouted or atleast germinated by tuesday so im planning on grabbing some rockwool cubes tomorow and quickly wacking up a little frame to hold my 6x23w 2700k CFL and 1x45w 6500k CFL. they should provide enough light inside a 1.5x2x2ft drawer, lined with shiney white plastic(cheers ikea! =]) untill thursday or friday.
i plan on pumping as much light and goodness into them at the start to promote lots of veg growth so i can fill as much of the screen as possible.
what is the best way to do this with auto's such as speed devil 2? does anyone have and experience with them on their own or with scrog aswell?
let me know asap.

I've got a tent the same size, and soon to start a 600w scrog with a 5cm[SUP]2[/SUP] mesh. I have some suggestions you might consider, but if you don't have the resources then I'd say your initial approach seems completely fine.

My setup is entirely based on NBG's 400w Scrog thread over at ICMAG.com (it's easily found). He recommends the mesh to be 8-9" above the growing medium, and to ensure at least 50% of the screen is filled before flowering.

I use his grow as a stencil for mine because he achieved 450g dry yield in a 50cm x 120cm space. I wouldn't attribute that to the genetics of his seed. I think much of it has to do with his large pot size (~40L capacity) and daily watering in a manual hydroponic setup. Thus if you could or wanted to, I suggest you opt. for larger pots and consider hand watering progressively until you're giving your plants 4-5L per day. Quite a bit of this will drain out onto the water tray but if you use hydroton/clay pebbles, they serve to drain and eventually reabsorb this excess into the growing medium. Something like this (exc. the fan or light or ducting etc.).

My tent -- 35L planters containing diced rockwool, sandwiched by clay pebbles. There's an 8" gap between the two screens which I might use for smaller plants. Goal is 0.9-1kg dry (450g per mesh and the rest in between).

The HPS will work fine for veg and flower(understandable if you dont have the money for a Mh as well). But i would recommend going with all 6500k CFL's for your young seedlings. The lighter/blueish spectrum is better for young plants with the brighter/yellowish-red lights for flower. GL and ill be watching.

thanks man. well ive got the 6 2700k's and 1 6500k so thats all i can do for them atm. but are you sure 283w of CFL will be ok for them?
i could just use the hps when it arrives and put the cfls in around the sides.

today its sunday so i dont think the garden centre is open for me to pick up the rockwool and stuff for screen so ill have to go tomorow.
checked the seeds, no action yet, but its only been 20 hours.

im using 4x 15lt pots and a 30ltr resivoir.
1x1m screen.
im just hoping for the 450-500g per m2 it says they average yield.
one big scrog should be fine with 4 plants. keep them low and wide.
im not guna top them. just train to the screen

theres a pic of the screen i made today, took an hour or 2. i used 50m of green hemp twine and 2x 90cm sticks and 2x 80cm sticks. made a square and wove the net. had to add a little brace on once of the corners to keep it sort of square and i ran out of the string so the last few lines i had to make alot wider.
update on the germinating seeds.
they have cracked but i do not see a white tip poking out of any as of yet.
next update tomorow.

The holes are way to small. need to be at least 2 inch by 2 inch. would really stress a plant to try to grow with that. and If your using standard T8 Fluro's the 6500k bulbs are less than 8$ a piece at any grow shop ive seen. if you have a standard t8 fluro using a 2700k bulb. it can and will hold a t8 6500k
