Hi Guys, I'm looking to clone my moms into another tent in a SOG style grow. I would like Suggestions for the Best LED Light for around 700-900$USD to cover a grow area around 1 square meter maybe a little more. Im looking for suggestions for products that can be backed by journals on this website. Should have 3Watt LEDs at least. Thanks for the help!

You could go with a blackstar 900w for a bit over $900. I'm going the smaller/more even coverage route and going with several smaller LEDs that add up to one big light. 5 240w blackstars is more LED lighting than 1 900w light and it'll evenly cover my grow space. You might consider doing something similar. Good luck and post your results.

look into getting several Kessil 150w, they come in a variety of blu/red combos and with $900 you could really get some sick coverage, there are lots of grows using these quality LEDs. Advanced LED diamond series is supposed to be good too. Stay away from pro-grow, they falsely claim to use Cree chips in thier products.

Well, heres a better question is a blackstar 600 close to the equivalency of a 1000watt hps?

from Blackstar's Website:

"On Lumen output alone, a 90w LED does not match the 400 HID light system. In usable lumens alone the conversion is more like 90w LED = 320w HID (HPS/MH)"

My goal is end up sog'ing 1LB per tent per LED panel, much in the way the guy with 112 clones and 2 liter bottles did except with LED instead of his 600watt hps light setup

edit for:

I've looked at Kessils and they're somewhere around 300$a pop. I haven't seen many journals using them as primary lightsource though.

http://californialightworks.com/Products_SolarStorm.htm is what i would REALLY want.. but price is kinda high.. but it uses 5w LEDs

......hmm. ive got a couple 240 blackstars...1 blackstar doesnt have as much coverage as one of my 150 sunmaster hps's...but togeather in altranating row 3 150 hps and 2 240 blackstars they cover a six by 4 table almost as well as my 1000 watter, the bang for yer buck in led is the savings on power..running 250 watts less with the same coverage, less heat /less bulbs to replace..its win win,,, in my opinion tho , the led works best at 50/50split with hps ... with that it seems to me to enhance these smaller hps's i have so the plants grow like im using way more light ..i tried flowering under led alone , it wasnt till i added the first hps (150 watt) that i started to get more traditional bigger tighter bud, the side of the first grow that recieved mostly hps was bigger ..alot bigger, but now i have my ratio down....its alll goood.....im new to these smaller micro-ish grows..its been a learning curve in maxamizing every potential...light bieng the obvious key.....so in summery i think led is the best thing to come to growing since hps, but togeather they are frikken awsome...

I use LEDs, but you can cover that area better (and for half the price) using HO T5s + aquarium bulbs, which are available in PAR spectrums (Quantum Grow bulbs, or UVL AquaSun or ZooMed, or ATI... They run a bit warmer than the equivalent LED wattage, which can be a good thing for veg. FYI, I also flower under mine, just swap bulbs for 500-750 nm range bulbs

i already have 4 fluorescent "bloom" bulbs from HTGsupply to be used as supplimental lighting on the sides and under the canopy. I'm just trying to weigh my choices for my primary light which i want to be LED as I will be extending my op substantially. I I currently have 2 tents, by the end of june i should have 4 tents. mother tent not included.

I'm thinking 2 blackstar 240s may give me good coverage and allow me to put them just a couple inches away from the canopy giving me better penetration.. ahhh idk. I'm gonna spend some money in the next 24hours so hopefluly these companies will answer my emails about their products.

We represent two manufacturers and both are proven to work very well. Please feel free to contact me, we have wholesale pricing and will extend that to you as long as you promise to share growing results on this forum. Illumitex is out of Texas and has a great LED package and grow system, but has only been proven for Vegis and flowers. Grow perfects 357 Magnum Plus is proven and very effective for growing medical.

It's a poorly designed LED panel with no finned heatsink & 5 cheap fans that sound like a jetplane. It was drop-shipped to me from China...

Without trying to sound like a rep: look at California Light Works - 5w LEDs, good warranty & its in your price range if you talk to them about their feedback program.

anyone who's seen my journals or posts knows I'm partial to Hydroponics Hut. I have one of their PG 550s - actual power draw 470w. It is easily more powerful than a 600w HID but not as powerful as a 1000w HID. They're about 800 odd bucks. I made that investment back rather quickly.

No, a 600w led isn't close to a 1000w hid. that's marketing hype.
600w Blackstar = 600w Hortilux HPS

I have both lights as well as a 250w HPS and a 150w HPS.

richinweed, I like the way your setup sounds, you don't need high powered lights for a grow, you can break it down as you have done.

I would suggest the Magnum 357 Plus.......

Here is a journal, journaled both on thcfarmer and rollitup. He yielded a pound dry in a 13 sq.ft area, where you plan to grow in a 10.89 area.... the grow before this with the same setup, he yielded 11.5 ounces with mistakes on his part.

This light is about $300 over your budget, but if quality dense buds are what you are after, you'd wait to scrounge up $300, am I right? It'll pay for itself in one grow.

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/416863-9-purple-kush-under-360-a.html

This guy ran only one Magnum 357 and achieved 1gram per watt.

https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/458309-second-grow-magnum-357-og-18.html (Harvest on page 17, results on page 18)

Keep in mind, these are Magnum 357 grows, which are only $800.... the improved Magnum 357, which put out 360 actual watts, are $1100

this guy is right the old magnum as well as the new one is cheaply made and not up to par for how ridiculously overpriced they are , not to mention their management has been called out on shady marketing before as well. california lightworks though not the place that some one should look if you dont want over priced ..... 2000$ for a "800w" light ..... fuck me thats crazy and dont be fooled that is not a 800w light probly runs around 400-500w max! i dont care how well it works that price is crazy, for 2000$ you could go and get 3 of the 300w units i have to total 900 true watts , or you could get 4 "500w" blackstars either of which would blow the solar storm out of the water .... stay away from companies that steal your money in mark ups.

again for the price they aint that legit at all .....1200$ for 357w of light , again go buy 2 vipar A300's or 2 blackstar "500W"'s you will have much much better results.
